SSD or NVME?

or will it be fine on something like this;

I am asking this cause when I first brought Diablo 4 and installed it on my NVME it would not work right but when I installed it on my SSD it worked fine. I just recently reinstalled Diablo 4 on my NVME and now it works fine lol,maybe it got patched or something.

A nvme drive is a ssd.

A SSD is Solid State Drive, a non volatile flash memory storage drive.

NVME stands for Non Volatile Memory Express, a PCIE standard for SSDs, often using a m.2 slot, but can also be a PCIE slot.

Both work just fine, you probably just had an issue with the initial install of diablo 4.

the nvme will only be marginally better cause games don't use the bandwidth potential of nvmes anyway, at least not yet

There should be no difference between an SSD using sata and an NVME using PCI-E besides transfer speeds. Both are fast enough to run any modern games.

If you got space left on the NVMe install it on it, if not then on the SATA SSD. It will shorten loadscreens.

Ok cool thanks. I hear the download size gonna be like 140gig just want to only download once lol. Ill put it on the NVME then.

I have a dedicated 2TB NVME for games and a 500gb NVME for the OS.

Some games don't transfer well for some reason. Some when transferring trigger a full redownload, even with a massive amount of space available.

PSO2 is one such game. I moved it off my main drive while cleaning out lots of junk files to manage space a bit better, and it would redownload when I used the transfer function back.

Payday 2 also can sometimes trigger it as well as warframe. It isn't perfectly consistent though.

This is all using the steam move install folder function.

NVME no reason to go sata unless you don't have m.2 slots which if that is the case need new Motherboard and stuff also.

warframe uses external launcher that downloads extra data so it's not surprising it's not as simple to move

i dunno about the other two

99% of games can be moved without issue
