What traits you selecting?
I think Hero Worshipped might be the best because you get an extra crew member you can make work in the acid mines (???).

I don't get the point of Kid Stuff, just for extra dialog options, and you lose credits constantly? No thanks.

Raised Enlightened/Universal seems good, its a free chest with loot?

I don't like Extrovert or Introvert, both altering oxygen consumption based on if you are alone or in a party, because it will act as a nerf in situations where I am forced to be solo/partied and not aligned with the perk I picked.

Same reason I don't want Empath, I pick the wrong dialog and I am nerfed in combat.

Dream Home is just a cosmetic place to put stuff? And it costs 125000 credits? I don't know man, this could be either awesome or terrible. I feel like I could buy a lot of guns for 125000 credits and won't my ship be where all my stuff is anyway? This is giving me huge FOMO already.

Alien DNA is weird, better stats but healing is harder? I don't usually eat in these games anyway, because I am a hoarder, and I can always just passively heal out of combat, so this seems really OP to me, because of my playstyle.. Unless there is in-combat healing, then this might be a bad choice?

Freestar Collective Settler means better loot from freestar collective missions, but "crime bounty towards other factions is greatly increased." Is that a bad thing? If you do crimes you get a higher bounty put on you by other factions? I just wont do crime? IDK if worth?

Same^ with Neon Street Rat but for Neon missions.
Same^ with United Colonies Native but for United Colonies missions.

Spaced/Terra Firma don't seem worth. Both nerf/buff you based on if in space or on planet.. I don't want nerfs.

Serpent's Embrace makes you more powerful when you Grav Jump, less when you dont.. I don't want nerfs, pass on this one chief.

Wanted is cool. You get more exp, more loot, because baddies show up to fight you every now and then. AND you do extra damage when you are low on hp ALL THE TIME. This is win-win. Only if you are doing some pacifist run is this a bad thing.

CONCLUSION

1) Hero Worshipped
2) Alien DNA
3) Wanted

(There are 3 slots)
Pros-Extra crewmate, huge stats, extra damage when low health and easy exp/loot farm.
Cons-Crewmate has annoying dialog, nerfed healing/food, extra combat might be annoying at some point.

Thoughts?

Dream home is the only one i've chosen so far, will wait to pick the others in game

Will probably pick the same ones.
I'm not going to make a decision on that till I've looked properly at the pros and cons of each trait on the 1st. But I might end up going with "Kid Stuff" perk.

Yeah it is going to be tough, but I MIGHT drop one of my 3 selections for Dream Home, but IDK which I would drop D:

1) Alien DNA (Better stats and fits my character idea)
2) Taskmaster (I assume it makes your companions work harder)
3) Either Terrafirma (Assuming opposite of spaced) or Kidstuff (character idea)

Character will be a professor

Oh I didn't even see Taskmaster- Your crew automatically repairs parts of the ship they are trained on when they reach 50% damage, but they cost twice as much to hire.

I guess I question how much space combat is there actually in the game, how much does it cost to repair the ship, and how much does hiring a crew member cost? Is it an ongoing cost or a once off? This might actually be a S Tier trait? Hard to say

OH wait, it only OCCASIONALLY repairs the ship parts, meaning you will have to fly around with your ship parts with under 50% HP, actively NOT repairing it, HOPING their repair check will proc? Screw that, I will be repairing my ship to 100% the SECOND I get out of combat lol

Since every trait has a downside and traits are completely optional, I am not selecting any traits for my first playthrough.

that depends on how it all works though,
if repair costs are the same, no matter the damage, it might be better to wait it out a bit and not repair that 90% part that is bugging you.
if repair cost is tied to durability then yea, that trait would not be as great as it could be.

I think the negatives are worth it though? (Apart from Kid Stuff which literally has no positive outside of dialog)

Like, I think the positive will be like 40% better oxygen efficiency on planet and the negative will only be like 10% extra oxygen use in space. I doubt it will be 1:1 gain/loss?

I'm gunning for Alien DNA, Introvert and Serpent's Embrace traits. Being a good mix for the Xenosociologist build in my head and all.
1. Kid Stuff - I just like the idea, especially the fact that your parents will look like you (similar to Fallout 3 and 4).

2. Empath - What can I say? Companions just love me :D

3. Hero Worshipped - I think the Adoring Fan is hilarious and it's nice to get him back. And like OP already pointed out: you get an extra crew member and potential pack mule. Count me in!

I heard somewhere that each trait has a quest attached to it that removes the negative of the trait, which may make all of these better overall.

1) I think I'll just watch the parent interactions on youtube, I ain't losing 2% of my income lol.

2) Empath might be worth it, if you are willing to save scum

3) Hero Worshipped is mandatory, there is literally no down side
