Why don't people like 1080p?
1. A 15.6inch 1080p display(commonly laptops) has 141PPI
2. A 27 inch, 1440p display (considered the sweet spot) has 108PPI
3. A 27 inch 2160p display has 163PPI

so a 1080p laptop at 15.6 inches is slightly worse in quality than a 27inch 4k display, and better than a 27inch 2160p display, while being a lot easier to run. Sure, the screen isn't as big, but if you really think about it people are shilling out money to play 4k, when in reality...the only thing your accomplishing is being able to play on a 10inch bigger screen for thousands more dollars so you can actually push those pixels, to virtually have the same graphical fidelity. That doesn't seem worth it unless your stacked.

1080p laptop gaming, will in my mind, always be far superior than any desktop gaming setup imaginable. The power draw is way less, it doesn't take up nearly as much room, its portable, and is so much cheaper.

If you're comparing 1080p on a 27inch screen then yes, it's garbage. But big screen doesn't make game good. Not sure why everyone always hype up big things. No mans sky is big game every one is hype, turned out crap. fallout 76 is 4x bigger than fallout 4 omg hype. turned out crap. starfield is gonna be huge game 20x size skyrim, probably gonna be crap. people who plug their pc into 70 inch tv's cause it's big..gonna be crap.

If you don't have a lot of disposable income, which..with the way the economy is going in amercia, probably not a lot of people, i highly advise getting a 1080p laptop.

PPI is what matters, stop buying into 4k marketing. If you have the $$$ then yeah go for it. But i'm trying to help clear the misconception that 1080p looks bad.

1080p is totally fine. But I make concessions, if I have to, to play at my screen native resolution
Tenoshii Aug 20, 2023 @ 10:24am
Because it's twice as expensive as 420p.

I play on 2K because that's my monitor. I'll go to 1080p with all graphic options max sometimes.

1080p not only looks really bad but it also wouldn't go across my entire monitor

I love 1080p, it's easier on my system and gives me better performance. Upping to 2K or 4K while 2.5ft away from the monitor doesn't look any different to me, anyway.

I got mine 24'' 1440P 60 IPS DELLP2416D in 2016 for 300 euros which is the monitor i have until now. Now for 200 euros you can get a 27'' 4k. Why would anyone still have 1080p?

Because some people have really old and slow systems

Because its not all about the amount if pixels… i have both a 4k monitor and a 1080p monitor. I use my 1080p monitor more often than the 4k monitor

Doesn't have to be "really old" or "slow".

But I never cared about elitism.

There's an old saying, "Work smarter, not harder."

That was just a example and no offence to anyone who does have old and slow systems by the way
