Let's all thank for FSR instead of DLSS
Instead of bumping those negative DLSS threads I propose to thank developers for implementation for open technology such as FSR.

"AMD gaming chief Frank Azor is trying to thread a needle. He seemingly wants to say that AMD did not actually make Starfield, quite possibly the year’s biggest PC game, exclusively support AMD’s FSR upscaling technology at the expense of competitors like Nvidia DLSS. ..."
https://www.theverge.com/2023/8/25/22372077/amd-starfield-dlss-fsr-exclusive-frank-azor

Majority of gamers don't have access to DLSS and yet voice of minority is being heard on this forums.

Let all together thank under this post for FSR - frame generation and upscaling for everyone.

Ok I crunched numbers from the survey
According to the latest data, there are 132 million monthly active users on Steam

PC VIDEO CARD USAGE BY MFG show
74,69% Nvidia
15,93% AMD
09,02% Intel
00,36% other

But on the table lower Video Card Description we have:
27,75% GTX - 36630000 users
38,65% RTX - 51018000 users
11,86% AMD - 15655200 users
07,49% Intel - 9886800 users

So lets split DLSS version 2 vs 3
09,28% RTX 2000 - 12249600 users
25,55% RTX 3000 - 33726000 users
03,60% RTX 4000 - 4752000 users
titan not included here

PlayStation 5 Total Sales: 35942643
Xbox Series X|S Total Sales: 21351543
Steam deck ???

DLSS 2 total users ALL RTX cards = 51,018,000 users
DLSS 3 total users only RTX 4 cards = 4,752,000 users
AMD hardware users including consoles = 72,949,386 users (excluding unknown number of steam deck additional millions)

Lets count hardware without DLSS support so I will include only AMD, Intel, GTX hardware

119,466,186 non DLSS hardware
vs
51,018,000 DLSS enabled hardware

Users of those GPUs should be thankful:

agreed the only ones complaining about it are ngreedia shills. who love nvidia for their exclusivity.

is this how AMD market these days? yikes. That whole space has been toxic for so many years it's impossible not to know that virtually anything that comes out of their mouths are lies.

FSR is based and nvidia shills can keep seething despite the fact we can all benefit from it.
LucifersBeard Aug 20, 2023 @ 3:52am
1070ti and 5700 is the minimum GPU requirement. Anything lower than that is going to be a slideshow I imagine. Also, DLSS should have been included as an option for those who can use it. FSR is still not even close to DLSS.
BSF7772 Aug 20, 2023 @ 4:05am
we dont need dlss, we just need a good implementation of fsr that will work and look great in anything.
there are many games that have many artefacts whatever what upscaling u use, dlss will not fix the garbage implementation
and people seem to overexaggerate the different between fsr and dlss, it really isnt. dont let the fake gamers fools you. you will gain nothing by shilling for nvidia

It's desperation because they are so far behing technology wise and can only react or adapt. And now Intel as the next player in town and even their Raytracing and upscaling solution works better than AMD's.

So they gotta bribe the devs to avoid getting compared to DLSS ingame because FSR usually loses. Sometimes by small details, sometimes by with an awful smearing and ghosting and/or shimmering of antialiased edges.

PureDark's Mod will be the way to go for RTX GPU owners anyway.

The funny point is that Nvidia's exclusivity would not matter if their solutions wouldn't lead to better results.

AMDs loses in every category. Nvidia has better Raytracing, Nvidia has faster GPUs, Nvidia has better Upsclaing. AMD can't match DLAA, AMD can't compete with Frame Generation.

Thats why over 80% of all sold GPUs are Nvidia GPUs becaue it's the better product with better software solutions incl. CUDA and streaming de/encoders.

That's why AMD have to bribe Bethesda and go the anti consumer way. because they need a showcase title.

They wouldn't have to do it if AMD would actually release products and solutions that can compete with Nvida as a whole. They can't, so they go the "block competitors" way.

Thanks to the mod community it won't matter anyway.
We will get free and paid DLSS2 and DLSS 3 mods soon for Starfield and can make fun of the Tier 1 7900XTX 1000 $ GPU that gets beaten by a Tier 3 GPU like the 4070 in Starfield fps benchmarks thanks to DLSS3 lol.
Mr Brightside Aug 20, 2023 @ 4:59am
You know it's possible to have both FSR and DLSS yeah? That's the issue here.
Forest Aug 20, 2023 @ 6:47am
Great news! The upcoming game Starfield will feature FSR 3, and AMD plans to showcase its latest technology using this game. To enjoy the game, you must have FSR 2 or FSR 3. FSR 3 is quite similar to FSR 2 but with an additional step for frame interpolation, which is crucial for improving the framerate, indicating that an extra frame can be generated between two frames, resulting in a smoother gaming experience without putting extra strain on your GPU, which is the key to boosting the framerate. The basic idea is that if you have two frames, you can easily insert an AI- or software-generated frame in the middle, giving you a third frame that the GPU didn't even need to render, so from what I understand, the driver or software is a revised expansion, and also when delivered will be exclusive to AMD.

I should be able to run FSR 2 in Starfield.

I would have liked to have both.

Both techs are hit and miss, depending on the game. I feel like DLSS works better overall than FSR, but it would be nice to have the option to use either.
lol who uses upscaling?

Lets celebrate costumer unfriendly practices! Yay!

I think similar
False. As you are the one advocating for exclusivity

I think there will be no police chaces in Starfield - so Bethesda block games from progress? xd They could implement it xd
false equivalency in full effect...

we are talking about upscalers here, not gameplay... they are not remotely the same

Irrelevant rambling

- upscaler is already implemented and its FSR that support ALL hardware
So because there already is an upscaler it isn’t beneficial to add a second objectively superior one?

Strange logic.

And yet it is still exclusive. You are advocating for exclusivity, while i am advocating for inclusivity.

So, according to your logic we should stop supporting controllers? Since there is already an implementation for input and its keyboard and mouse? Get out of here kid
