What type of ship are you going to try and design?
I watched the Bathesday video, well mostly listened, that is about 45 minutes long. Looks like massive ship customization to even the very goofy. They had a mech robot looking ship and one that looked like a platypus.

I’m probably going to do some sort of odd asymmetric like the Millennium Falcon had with the cockpit to one side. Focused on exploration / trader with a sort of earlier NASA ish vibe if possible. Sort of like the exploration section near the cockpit with sensors and the trader cargo tacked onto the side but can potentially see cargo pods from the cockpit off to the side.

I bet there are going to be some fun designs. Wonder if we can share them somehow?

So what are you going to design?

I think it really depends on how it works. I'm not going for a specific design, but I probably wouldn't go asymmetrical.

They showed you could make it look more like a jet or the space shuttle. Could probably do sone start trek style bird if prey types etc.

I'll probably try and make Serenity. It would certainly fit the theme lol.
Depending on how the different ship parts affect things I know I'll want to design an "efficient" or "min/max" ship too

since your cockpit view would be your "center", if you tried using an asymmetrical design you might be prone to bumping into things

Since all of the battles seem to be in space then streamlining seems a waste of creds

Maybe it is pleasing aesthetically but how relevant his that?

Ok, I know, people will howl about how it looks. Maybe some people will paint theirs technicolor, others with camo (like that works in space!)

Then again, a flying cannon would be cool
One shot and boom he's dead

Well for combat though I may try and run or evade but I could put the guns over and under the cockpit.

Though doing a B-wing style config seems fun to me as well. The fun about an RPG is normally it is less arcade and more just fun.

Going to try it though and see.

Here is a PC Gamer link. It’s very Lego block. If you don’t want to spoil it just ignore the link.

Im making the most awkward/ disgusting/ Unappealing ship possible. Im putting the cockpit in the back at the bottom by the engines.
Mathias Giovanni Jul 5, 2023 @ 11:31pm
That seems funny but having the cockpit further back has the advantage of seeing your ship and any damage.

I tend to like ships that have a large visual range where I’m floating in space with minimal obstruction of view.

Wonder of their are view port parts as well.

I'm going to make a ship shaped like a cup, then fly in such a way to half 'fill' it with the chassis of another ship and then ram said other ship into a structure to destroy it with collision damage.

A large 40k warhammer Emperor Trump ship so entire star systems lose their minds when it shows up.

I don't know, It's look awesome but there is something still questionable, do we get turret on ship because I don't see any turret other than main/secondary gun/missiles, it's basic lego set, but very limited to some way. I guess we wait and see.

The ships look amazing, seriously really amazing, and it sure looks like the battleship has a few turrets on it.

How ever as much as the ships in Starfield look amazing, the battleship looks severely under gunned. :steamhappy:

I dont know maybe the capital ship shown in the advertisements is a carrier but really interesting how epic Starfield will get. :)

Definitely asymmetrical if possible. Something kinda boxy and workhorse/hauler looking. Basically a space semi with some asymmetrical design

As soon as I have the money in game I'm going to try and build the Defiant from DS9, after that I'm going to try and build the Sulaco from Aliens then a Star Destroyer
