If it was not able to run at 1080p then the xbox x would run at max 720p and xbox s would not run it at all.
Standardised hardware does have a clear advantage but for 1080 you should probably be good. There are always settings that require a lot of power for little uplift in graphical fidelity. You can turn those down. There will probably be setting optimisation guides.
We will also have to see if there are up scaling technologies in the game. On my RTX 2060 that I used to run until like a month ago I got an extra 40 fps with FSR in Grounded. Mind you I am running an 2K ultrawide monitor.
It might take a few patches for the game to become more stable on PC, though there are hopeful signs from people who did hands on previews. They where noticing less bugs then they where used to with Bethesda titles. The previewer even said they had done a Fallout 76 preview back in the day, which was far far far worse. "We will totally fix it before launch bro" Bethesda claimed back in the day.
ANYWAY, luckily there is also Steams refund policy. You'll get up to 2 hours of playtime to see if the game runs well enough for you.
Depends on the VRAM I'd say. I own a 3060 RTX 12 GB and play all my games in 4K UHD on 43". But yeah, I'm curious if Starfield will be "the game" I finally have to upgrade ^^
Maybe not quite but close. For that you'd better have a 4000 serie.
Like I said - all my games across all genres. Mostly [a|c]RPGs (all Bethesda titles, Pillars 1 & 2, Pathfinder (Kingmaker|Wotr), Outer Worlds, Elex I & II...), space games (X4 Foundations, NMS...) as well as action titles (Cyberpunk 2077, Metro 1,2 & 3...) and some MMOs (Warframe, Guild Wars 2, SW:Tor).
I have a 6700xt and will at least try 1440, but I may have to do 1080 as well.
So old games, got it. You're not having a good experience with CP2077 at 4k with a 3060.
That's working as intended then =)
In fact I have a good experience - with RTX enabled. Of course not with everything cranked up to maximum. But then again there wouldn't be any reason for a 4090 if the 3060 can do the same.
It's not binary: 3060 bad, 4090 good. I've those 12 GB for a reason. A 3060 with 8 GB would indeed have more troubles.
But a 3060ti with 8gb, will not. Will still outperform a 3060 with 12 gb of Vram. By a average of 25- 30%.
So it's not just the amount of Vram. Some games never need more than 8gb of Vram.
