Are you ready for 60fps cap?
This is Bethesda so its most likely capped and this going to a real bummer if true.
I haven't played a game below 120 fos for quite some time personally

No they did not say that at all... Its only going to be for consoles and even then i think the series x will get a 60fps mode...

Also, for me 60fps is fine for most games...

Because of there old ass engine I think physics are tied to 30 console and 60 pc judging by there other releases however hopefully enough time has passed for some physics upgrades internally

vonbleak. I just checked again. 30 fps lock was on xbox consoles. So they did say it. But not for pc.

People here forgetting that for basically all Bethesda games there's mods that literally untie physics to framerate, so you can play Skyrim or Fallout 4 at whatever fps your monitor can handle without any issues.

Like even if it's set to 60 fps cap at release, once a script extender is out that will be gone immediately.

It's annoying modders need to fix this stuff, but it's definitely something that will be fixed if Bethesda hasn't already fixed it.

Frustrating having people ♥♥♥♥ on the engine though, as if the Creation Engine isn't one of the most versatile and powerful open world game engines of our generation. No other engine allows for what it does, massive amounts of individual items with physics, meshes, etc etc. Plus the most moddable engine, too.

Even if Starfield isn't your thing -- Still buy it, if not for the mods that'll come out.

Yeah, I might wait for a modder to untie frame rate from physics etc (and to fix design brain farts) - assuming Bethesda try keeping it old school 60fps. I'm used to playing Skyrim and Fallout 4 at 120fps without glitches (which is around my minimum for games these days). 60 looks and feels harsh to me - even with decent motion blur (30 is a bad joke).

Speaking of Fallout 4, it doesn't fill me with confidence for Starfield. I thought Fallout 4 looked awesome when Bethesda showed it off before release. On playing it I was pretty disappointed.

FPS is capped on 30 on Xbox, while framerate is uncapped on PC and can and will go above 60FPS

Confirmed by Tod Howard

I always cap my games to 60 FPS whenever possible, so yeah. I'm ready.

the weird thing about this is, i thought they were working closely with the modders who fixed the older games to run at higher fps, like for skyrim there is that display tweaks mod, it allows you to reach 130fps, of course it also depends on the mods used and your hardware, but if you have a beast of a PC you can run almost anything at that fps.

they did a mod for FO4 as well, i forgot the name of that mod but it uses the same process as the skyrim version of that same mod, then there was that other mod they made for FO4 that speed up the fps to 350 during load screens only so that the game loads a ♥♥♥♥ ton faster because from some reason bethesda couldn't load the game fast enough even when the user was using an SSD.

anyway these mods make it so the game runs faster by bypassing the havoc's system that these games often come with.

i only hope bethesda made these changes for the PC version and aren't being lazy and only relying on your SSD to get the job done for them.

I always play with 60 FPS cap, so... yeah, no problems there. For me anyway.

Producer already confirmed that the game support up to 120 FPS.
ZombieF1 Jun 11, 2023 @ 11:51pm
Skyrim display tweaks mod allows you to reach 240fps. But if you can't constantly maintain 240 you're better off capping it lower to avoid stuttering. That's why I stuck with 120fps at 5120x1440. My RX 6800XT struggles in some places at 120fps in Falllout 4 which is a bit unpleasant occasionally. I can't be bothered installing my 4090 yet though.

I will cap it at 60fps anyway, so yeah?
