either the hype has never gone away and is super real (it is for me still) or it'll touch on 300k - 500k at launch.

I think it feels strange starfield is releasing right after BG3 and we all know how much of a message that game is sending.

Steamcharts is not really precise, just like after a certain date it doesn't show each day, and only 1 number per month, whatever that is the avg number that month or not, idk.

while steamdb actuall show numbers for each day, even when its years ago.

i can attest that the 1mil one is correct as i was there at the time. who knows about steamcharts being reliable or not but clearly in this case they are not.

Steamcharts also has listed Hogwarts only with like 500k players instead of the over 800k it had. Steamcharts sometimes doesn't track player numbers right from the release day. For some releases it can take a few days until it properly starts tracking. That's why the numbers are off for some games. SteamDB is always accurate as it always lists games immediately and even before release and also updates more frequently (every 5 minutes instead of every 1 hour for steamcharts). Cyberpunk made the news back then for being the first (and so far only) singleplayer title to get over 1 million concurrent players on Steam.

cyberpunk was released on PC, xbox and playstation and still had like a million players.
hogwarts legacy was released on PC, xbox and playstation, and still had over 500k on steam.

well, considering it going to be split between the xbox/gamepass platform...... still think it's going to get near 1.5-2 million just on steam if good.

If okish probably more BG3 type of numbers.

Even the haters are going to want to take a peak and play a little just so they can try to justify the hate. I think it's going to be decently received though.

Not many, most people will barely be done with character creation by September 6th.
