I will watch this post lol
BG3 is niche in the gaming market. The board game isn't niche. It's hugely popular as a board game. This popularity doesn't translate well when it's copied and pasted into a video game. Instead RPG games which largely originated from D&D evolved to what we have today with the likes of Starfield. BG3 turn based combat didn't move in this direction. Instead they are trying to incorporate both the video game and table top board elements but are the champion of neither
I can't see any real comparison other than that they are both story driven games. You could say they're both rugs etc but that's all.
ymmv but to me it's apples and bricks
Unfortunately the BG3 fans are
Good for you and I hope you do but thats not relevant to this discussion
Bricks crushes apples, but apples destroys paper. Paper cover rock, rock breaks scissors, scissors cuts paper, and bears (from @Ayato Silvermane) crumbles bricks...

Both games allow the player to acquire followers and companions to aid them in their quest.

Both games showcase heroes and villains.
Both games have cutscenes.
Lastly, both games are going to be evaluated on whether or not they qualify for GOTY.
This remains to been seen for BG3. Outside of cosmetics the facial features in BG3 can not (at least atm) be changed and there's a rather limited number of faces for each race (hopefully more at launch).
