I could have been much more happy for TESVI instead
TES VI will come out at least 17 years after Skyrim. Many fans won't make it

We're not THAT old...

Though, TES VII, not so sure...

The word is TES VI isn't coming out until after the next, upcoming release of Skyrim.

the next release of skyrim is Starfield
ESVI will be in late 2026 most likely for its SE edition in 2031

Bethesda needed to move to a new Engine. Doing so on a mainline Elder Scrolls game would have been a major risk. Starfield is their test bed for the new engine, and presents an opportunity to train up a lot of staff on the new engine before going back to their flagship IP.

I wager that after 29 years of Elder Scrolls, the majority of Bethesda Game Studios would eat garden slugs if it meant they never had to write another one.

That is a possibility.

They moved to a new engine iteration with Skyrim and it worked out wonderfully.

"New", "iteration", "worked out wonderfully".
If my cheese fries were as loaded as your sentence I'd be set for life.

I stand corrected. I had thought Fallout 3 was a Creation Engine title.

Still, Do you want to take a major risk on the follow up to Skyrim?

Compared to the older iterations; gamebryo and netimmerse, used for oblivion and morrowind respectively, yeah it is quite a major shift. As for working out wonderfuly, it is one of the best selling games of all time, if that isn't successful I don't know what is.

I am happy with getting Starfield even though I have my doubts about the story and stuff. It's going to play well. I would like to see a proper ES game soon though.

I'm way more interested in a brand new world. Especially one set in space. Skyrim introduced a lot of new lore elements that I wasn't very fond of, so I'm not super anxious to see where the series goes from there. I'll still play it, of course, but I'm much more excited about Starfield than I would be about TES6

Nah, I needed a new IP, it keeps things fresh.

I seriously doubt I'll ever buy another Elder Scrolls title.
