Anyone notices the planets all look so barren and empty?
I really do hope they do good but it really is a HUGE concern indeed with what they're doing with this 1000 planets proceural generation thing.

Looking at the trailer, notice how ALL the planets look so lifeless? I mean, who cares if each planet has a different biome? And yes, I know planets IRL are mostly lifeless anyway. But this is a game, and Bethesda should be prioritizing the fun aspect most of all.

So far in the trailer, the only 'fun' aspects I saw were the indoor fighting segments and the city showcases. But walking across the planets outside just look so incredibly meh...

At least two shown planets house some of the largest cities in the game. Though we haven't really seen the two planets as a whole.

For what's worth, I care about having various biomes with untamed wild life on them. The gameplay did show us rocky badlands with alien arthropods, lifeless moons without atmosphere, ice planets, tropical rain forest worlds with alien dinosaurs, northern pine forests and I seem to recall deserts as well.

I imagine the non-hand placed planets have some automated variables to them for generating enemy outposts, small settlement hubs or ruins. Though we haven't seen any kind of actual dungeon on planets.

No clue what you're talking about, every single planet they showed either had some kind of settlement/dungeon or life. Have your eyes examined.

"IRL planets are mostly lifeless".

"Mostly" is an under-statement. They are all lifeless except for one.

tbf, we haven't even looked at the two most likely to harbor life, Europa and Titan.

This is why I love Steam forums....

Thread title: Anyone notices the planets all look so barren and empty?

Nah man... it's been two weeks since the showcase. No one really noticed that at all. Like, this is the first I've heard of this.

Ah yeah if you dont count the several dozen other potential earth like planets we have discovered out there already in the small search of the galaxy which only represents a tiny slice of whats out there... lol... And considering we have only recently been able to even properly detect planets outside of our solar system i'd say its good start...

The universe is full of life...

I do not disagree, since there are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth. But the universe is rather, shall we say, large.

Look at our neighbor Mars, it also had A LOT of water on it, in the 'Goldilocks zone', and we have spent a lot of time looking with robots and yet nothing so far. Just saying, life is precariously established.

Actually that's not true, they said the planet Russia has stuck it's flag up aka Venus has some kind of creatures that have managed to live in it's atmosphere.

We also explore the easiest things to explore so all of the planets we have in our own solar system including the newly discovered ones may be teaming with life.

Their are 100's of billions of galaxies that we can see and each one has 100's of billions of planets, eventually they might even discover that their are other universes, they have already come to the conclusion this universe isn't endless.

Their was one actual smart scientist that said we need to stop broadcasting our location to the universe, and instead find a way to hide the planet.

I wonder if somewhere out there, there's an alien race that's been shown some video footage of earth, but the footage only shows the Sahara and Gobi deserts plus some extra footage from Death Valley, California. Surely, that alien might be thinking: "Wow, Earth is lame and boring as fu**. All they have is sand and a few scorpions, lizards and snakes every now and then. :dos2skull:

I think if you show an alien Earth in it's entirety they'd probably come to the same conclusion.

I'd love to read the edited Interstellar Yelp review:

"Okay okay, so they have more than just a few lizards and stuff like that in the desert. I noticed a few weird looking horses that had what seemed like tumors on their back, the poor creatures were constantly used for transportation of these even weirder looking hairless ape-like things. Some areas didn't even seem that bleak and desert-like, but all in all Earth is boring, earthlings are ugly and the smell is worse than Uranus!

TLDR; I'm changing my score from a 3/10 to a 4/10. Earth still sucks overall."

Ummm, no, better read that again. It might be possible, nobody has found anything on Venus and it would be a miracle anything could survive that acid inferno.

I agree with other things you say, universe is so big life is likely out there, but it is so far away and not sentient or capable of reaching out that we'll never know.

So for now...

And that's the truth thus far. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
