Research Projects
Does the improvement of a part during the Research progress of the previous season, apply to the first part of the next new season?

Yes, research is designing a part for the new season.
Design is for the current season.

Correct explained Andy.

What is good too, is first to Design an more advanced Part for the exising Season and then beginning an Research for the next season.

I am with Williams, i am going to try to split once my current projects will be over.

I will have 2 teams of 4 engineers on conception.
And then two engineers on research.

if you look into the guides section on steam for this game, there's a great/horrifying guide which explains the research/design mechanic in detail and actually shows that the mechanic is completely broken and it's apparently possible to win races with Williams in season one just by using the intense design with focus sliders all the way for downforce for wings and the underfloor, then repeating with same options to get the benefit from the expertise you gained, and finally doing a third design of the same parts with rushed and benefits from wind tunnel time and CFD. You somehow end up with best parts on the grid for the front and rear wings and underfloor (i.e. parts showing 1st or 2nd in car analysis and design screens)

As soon as I found that was possible, i started investing on less useful parts like chassis and suspension and stopped using the focus sliders. but even without using the focus sliders and 'stacking' intense designs, it just seems to easy to stay competitive, I'm halfway through my first season as Alfa Romeo, with no driver or staff swaps and I'm 3rd in the constructors. I kinda wanted a midfield team that's able to pick regular points and build towards championship contender over several years but apparently you have to be really careful in order to not start 'overperforming'.

Yes, it is another punch for the reality. You improve the car performance all the time, but you don't care about car handling and reliability. And still you are the best on the grid. Ridiculous. The whole team management part seriously needs to be rethought.
