I've been playing Tribes: Ascend for a long time and have done in-game purchases. However, I simply got tired of maintaining a Windows install next to my Linux. Would really appreciate a native Linux version (a Steam port would be very cool), or at the very least, a known Wine configuration.
Think about it - you'll be the best FPS that runs on Linux. And not to generalise, but Linux users tend to be loyalists. If you get in on the ground floor - a lot of people would still be playing the game, populating servers in a few years. Just check any other Linux game stats. And with Ubuntu making efforts towards a working tablet version and total convergence - you'll be honing in on various markets with just one port.
Fact
but there's Unreal Engine 3
but Unreal Engine 3 seems to be ported to linux
It would be all kinds of awesome to be able to play Tribes again. I will not likely dual boot just to get that running.
Try this!
I haven't used it myself, but if someone wants to see if it works, please let us know.
i played the hell out of Tribes 2 under linux, and would love to play Tribes Ascend.. TribesNext was fine, but was still a WINE solution, if you wanted the Linux version, and only an old version at that.
I won' t hold my breath, but I'll add my opinion/request/pledge-to-buy-it to the pile.
