the cutscene issue isn't something Marvelous/Xseed can fix, that's a Proton/Valve issue, the controller issue is 100% a Xseed/Marvelous issue as they didn't even make a controller profile for steam deck, it just defaults to PS4 Config, which means it doesn't even recognize the steam deck controller as a proper controller.
No it's not the best version to use GE-proton7-21
Trust me the biggest pain in the ass with Steam Deck is cutscenes in JRPGs I know your pain, Persona 5 Strikers has audio issues, Toukiden 2 has some cutscenes that don't work while others do, no matter what version of proton you use.
Secret of Mana Cutscenes work but play upside down cause of how proton calls the video in. It's abysmal, just glad GE-Proton7-21 works with this game xD
Thank you so much for this. It eventually worked. I had swapped to desktop mode, installed Bleeding Edge, verified it read as such in the library, but it still wouldn't launch right from the Deck side. I then went back to Desktop and just launched the game from the Steam desktop client and was finally able to make it past the main menu. I then restarted the Steam Deck and now it's running "proper"-like from the Deck side. The lack of controller buttons is, as someone said, confusing though.
Can't say horrible port, cause it's not working properly on unintended hardware, really I'm just as frustrated as everyone else with all these Steam Deck issues. But this game was never promised to work on steam deck, and they never said they had intentions to either.
Game was developed for Windows, and the game runs flawlessly with next to no issues on my windows machine with a PS4 controller, even has PS4 Icons.
Well I ran it on my desktop and used my Xbox controller and keyboard prompts are still showing up. Hopefully this will be fixed soon. I've never had any problems with anything on stream deck so far, even dragon quest builders 2 and the hunter call of the wild work perfect and they show up as unsupported.
I think other people may be having controller problems besides steam deck users. If it makes you feel better I'll say it's a poor port lol.
This port has some glaring issues that are obviously not caused by running through Proton. Requiring an external launcher to change graphics settings is like something from the early 2000's, and there's no point in lowering the quality anyway because anything less than high-quality shadows looks amazingly bad. It only displays controller glyphs if you're using an XInput-compatible controller, otherwise you're forced to see keyboard/mouse glyphs. There's noticeable stuttering when rotating the camera even if your system is otherwise running at a solid 60 FPS.
It's technically playable, but this is a textbook minimal-effort port.
