Yeah, that's not how that works, my dude. Either it's "get woke, go broke" or it's not. You don't just get to move the goalposts when you feel like it.

The problem is that IP's have momentum. When something goes woke it doesn't mean that it has to go broke and may take time for people to tune out. The Last Jedi is my go to example of that being the moment that people checked out of Star Wars. Solo lost money because of how bad this film did but TLJ itself made a lot of money. They had to completely alter the last film in the trilogy to change things that TLJ messed up and it was still hot garbage. Dr. Who is another example. It turned into tv lectures rather than fun adventures. So I ask you again. Name a new IP that was woke and sold off the back of it's own merit and not off of something that already had a fan base to parasitize.

I just want to throw my own example out there. SIgnalis. It's an indie game that tries to capture that Silent Hill 1 feel and gameplay, and I think it does very well at doing that. It has a female lead, is made by "le woke" devs, and features lesbians. It got very good review scores and did well financially too.

And also Celeste, and indie title with a trans main character. Did very well.

The phrase was popularised from BFV's controversy. And even back then it made no sense. Because BFV didn't do that badly. Especially not compared to BF2042. Which caused BFV's playercount to shoot back up.

Guess the Battlefield nerds retreat to the woke game because BF2042 was too woke? Eh, I don't know. It's so hard to keep track of these days. I play Battlefield 1 instead. The other supposedly go woke go broke battlefield game because it had women in world war 1 on it's DLC maps.

Yeah, that's the thing. Get woke, go broke has never rung true for videogames or movies. Good games and good movies make money. Bad ones don't. Simple as that, but you can't tell that to the anti-woke crowd, because their brains can't comprehend reality.

The closest they ever got to "get woke, go broke" was the Gillette thing and Gillette didn't go broke. They just lost some market share, but they're still one of the biggest razor companies out there.

All good examples of good "woke" games indeed I will give you that. I don't know about DE or Returnal. Never played em. Life is Strange was a disappointment by the end though. I dont count leading women or minorities as a factor for woke most of the time. Tomb Raider and Resident Evil had good female protagonists long before this started being an issue. If we are going off minority leads then The Walking Dead with Lee and Clem is definitely top of the list for me. That game handles everything with the care it deserves. It even has a racist white guy that you do end up caring about, so it's hard to claim it's woke but that definition is so nebulous nobody has the same definition between people. That's why a few pages ago I tried giving my best description of what I classify woke is to clear up what I could, but again everyone has their own definition. It's like racist, Nazi, and terrorist. All words that have been watered down so much they barely mean the same things anymore.

I would never, ever under any circumstances consider Bloodstained to be a woke title. Bloodstained is effectively apolitical, and the lead character being a woman has nothing to do with political progressivism and everything to do with people liking anime girls. It's just a game about an anime girl with a dark background killing monsters to protect her friends.

EA is big on the sjw culture mind you, star wars squadrons when I was playing and talked to the gay character about his boyfriend i did laugh to myeself and think "this is woke asf" because it was so blatent and unnatural in its delivery

But the things in this game seem so VERY minor that unless anyone specifically looked for it could see it.

So the fact they're getting so triggered by it does show a sign of quite thin-skin aka snowflake syndrome.
