Resolution Problems
After combing through the discussions I can't find anyone else mentioning this problem, I can't change the game from windowed mode nor can I change the screen resolution from 1536x864. Changing the setting from windowed to fullscreen or windowed to borderless just.... simply doesn't do anything. Clicking the resolution option in the settings doesn't do anything either. Manually editing the config file also didn't work, or trying to tweak my settings from GeForce experience, or uninstalling and reinstalling, updating my drivers, running as admin, disabling steam overlay, updating windows.

Bottom line is I've spent over an hour of my night just trying to make the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game fullscreen in my native resolution. Absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

What config file you talking about?

Try setting your desktop resolution to something else and see what happens.

Also disable scaling in Windows, try scaling options on the games executable and disabling fullscreen optimisations.

Ah copy that, can you paste your file here?

If not, can you paste resolution/some specs so can try to write a new config for you?

OK messing with the scaling options fixed the resolution problem, still can't truly fullscreen but it's at least playable now if I maximize the window, thank you

No worries, what happens if you hold alt and press enter?

Might force it.

I have the same problem. I cannot switch to fullscreen or at least borderless window. It just stays in windowed mode with a fat windows border around it. Kills the immersion somehow. :shen:

Does anyone know a fix for this? It's pretty annoying.

@OP: I found out what the problem was and in my case I'll have a second GPU installed that occasionally does some render work for 3D graphics I like to create. It seems like the Dead Space engine has a problem adressing the right GPU in such a use case. The game was always running on my older card instead of my RTX card even when the RTX card was the primary desktop card.

The workaround is simple but also a bit annoying, I just pull the power plug of my older card when I plan to play Dead Space and then the game runs fine. No problems anymore with fullscreen or the resolution setting.

Sucks a bit but it seems like some engines can't handle such a setup. I had the same ♥♥♥♥ back with Metro Exodus. It was even worse with that game because it crashed constantly on start with both graphic cards running.

Hope this might help.

I think I'm having a similar problem. The first time I launched the game, it was through a 900p RDP session to build the shader cache. Once I got home, running the game in fullscreen at 2160p resulted in single digit fps, 0% GPU use, and a very low-res image, like the game is trying to use the remote display adapter's native res. Running in borderless window stuck a tiny image in the top-left corner of the screen. Windowed mode runs normally and uses the GPU as intended, though, and using the Borderless Gaming app on windowed mode *does* give me a fullscreen 4K image that uses my GPU correctly, though that's not exactly an acceptable solution.

Nothin unfortunately.

The dual card issue makes sense, I have to move my computer a lot right now so I'm runnin on my laptop. I'll try using Borderless Gaming and see if that helps

Ok cool, dunno why I didn't consider BG before but it worked like a charm lmao, thanks for the help y'all
Same problem

Using the task manager I found out the game is using GPU 1 (AMD) instead of GPU 0 (NVIDIA)
Found the solution!

Go to Device Manager and disable the AMD Radeon on Display adapters!

Finally i can play this game :)
