Both Xbox One & PS4 came with HDD as default
Both XSX & PS5 came directly with PCIe SSD ( not even normal SSD )
PS5: Custom 825 GB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD
XSX: WD SN530 NVMe SSD w/ custom ASIC supporting PCIe 4.0 x2
So even a normal SSD is "starting" be outdated at this point (for gaming).
Calling HDD obsolete now sounds weird tbh.
Dead Space was developed for PS5/XSX Gen from very start unlike most games.
So AAA games were always designed around PS4-XONE limitations until recently, but that is not the case anymore.
DS Remake even recommends a PCIe SSD on PC.

and you can use the ssd on your next system too
Of course an HDD can do the job, but it does it poorly. It's not about if it can do it, it's about the speed in which is does that job.
Loading Times have become near non-existent thanks to SSD's. A large interconnected world like the Ishimura is most likely relying on a user to have an SSD for that fact alone. It's most likely to mask, as much as possible, the small loading bits of the tram travel.
Hi, you can purchase an external SSD if you absolutely feel the need to but your hardware IS FINE trust me <3 loading screens will just be a little long, some textures may pop in, the game will be okay!
