It was pretty clear something was really off with the flesh and blood "Nicole" the minute you see her for the first time, since she already say that Unitology nutjob phrase.

Well, that's the one time I'm in the majority and the one time where it's basically no use since the videogame industry is basically held hostage by a vocal minority who like anti-immersive games better, since devs are also very often of that breed themselves.

I will be trying the System Shock remake when it drops, though. Seemingly next month.

I'd say it wasn't as obvious, but I also think it may fall into a case of "This story is more than 10 years old now. We're not fooling anyone."

Additionally, you see Kendra and Hammond doing the same thing Isaac is doing, falling for the delusions that the Marker causes despite knowing even more definitively that Chen and Kendra's brother are dead. I think the thing that was ACTUALLY the twist this time was the idea that the Marker was doing a double-switcheroo on Isaac and Elizabeth Cross. Isaac was seeing Elizabeth as Nicole, while Elizabeth was seeing Isaac as Jacob Temple [\spoiler]. I didn't see that coming.

So no one has mentioned it yet, but in the first encounter with her after the gondola ride, once you go out and turn on anti-gravity, you can fly over to the side she was standing on and there's a console with a security recording of Isaac and "Nicole" speaking from before. In the recording you hear the real conversation and who it's with. Oddly enough Dr. Cross at that time still sees Isaac as Isaac.

If I'm remembering right, Nicole was saying all the make us whole stuff since your first encounter with her in the OG. It may seem more obvious now because of audio and video logs you can find in the remake of Nicole voicing her disdain for Unitology, so hearing her say make us whole would contradict itself.

No, but that's mainly because the regressives that were in charge of this remake can't handle subtlety. They're not smart enough for it. As a result, they don't believe customers are smart enough for it either.

I honestly thought the whole entire Nicole being dead "twist" wasnt really much of a surprise when I played this back for the 1st time, when I was 17. (2012)

Plus the story has been around for 15yrs so the fandom will hav spoiled alot of ppl on the game anyways; or at least hinted tht "Make Us Whole" means Marker/Necro.

So I appreciate the new twist of the Isaac and Elizabeth one. Isaac seeing her as Nicole (so it wuld make sense why she was able to physically interact with things) and Eliz seeing him as Temple. Personally think it wuld throw off the player into thinking she might not b dead, if shes able to physically interact with the world.

Not sure how anyone missed it, Nicole was Cross for Isaac, Isaac was Temple for Cross. They were physically there, but appearance was altered by the marker's manipulation. Figured everyone saw that at the end of the game. This was the change they made from the original game where it was either purely an imagination, or someone else was being portrayed by the marker.

Pretty biased here. In Og it was pretty obvous that something was fishy with Nicole too.
It also a pretty often used Trope now and it was used back then too.
