My brother's like that too. And he often blames the games for him being unable to get out of a straight corridor.
Dead Space 2 is far less of a horror game than Dead Space 1, which already is only much of a horror game for the first quarter of it or so before you get tons of weapons and it becomes much more of an action game than a horror experience.
That aside, how do side quests "force players" to backtrack? They are side quests - by definition they are supposed to be optional, or else they aren't "side quests."
@Titus the ones in DSR aren't remotely as trash as the ones in Spooderman.
You aren't forced to do them, that's why they are SIDE QUEST, they are OPTIONAL.
Maybe don't do them? But majority like them since it add's more to the game and allowing as I said above, more exploration. Which could add for more audio/text logs to add more to the story. They already charge $60-$70 for the game. At least it's nice to have some more content to the game
