Custom Wave Defense Game Mode (Survival)
Greetings! Not sure if this kind of posting is allowed here but I wanted to share something I've been working on for the last few months.

It's very rudimentary, but building off of the already existing game modes, I put together a wave defense mode (Solo/Co-Op) where you fend off enemies while defending the general insertion area.

Compound (3 variations)
Creek (2 variations)

Originally I created this for my own fun but I felt it has potential beyond that; unfortunately I'm at the limits with my knowledge on Lua, so if somebody wants to take this and build up on it, or just play it for themselves, I'm releasing it as is.

Some notes:
AI can be problematic; on larger maps they can often forget or have a hard time tracking player positions, smaller maps tend to work better, as well as players using non-suppressed weapons. I wanted to have them always zero in on the player position but don't know how.

Using the bumrushing AI mechanic added in 1033 update to Terrorist Hunt. In my experience it makes them more consistently rush your position now, as opposed to wandering behavior. Not perfect yet, sometimes AI gets stuck but overall an improvment.

With higher enemy experience, I think their tracking is better but the better accuracy, reaction time, combined with potentially high enemy numbers may be unfair. Experimenting with custom AI values might be a good idea here.

Enemy snipers can be a hit or miss; their ability to spot players seem to largely depend on their distance to players, but even at medium ranges, they often fail to identify players. For now, these guys just bumrush with the rest of them but I'd like to eventually exclude them from the bumrushing.

Over longer matches, as AI respawn, performance may take a hit. I think it has to do with the amount of bodies that can pile up but I'm not sure how/if they get cleaned up ever.

Need to expose more AI related functions to Lua before you can truly get them to rush in properly :|

FYI, fingers crossed we get that sorted in 1033.

ive always wanted something to make pve more "reactive" like say after the intel is located and taken. all remaining enemies on map begin to converge on the intels last location. it'll put more emphasis on having to be cautious on the exfil and would put those last couple of bots that often get left behind to good use.

While I don't wanna over-indulge in self promotion, I figured it'd be worth a note that I've updated this with 1033's bumrushing AI (now try to rush player position instead of end up wandering), and added 3 new map variants on the table. Happy hunting and feedback would be appreciated. :)

great gamemode mate! Been having a lot of fun with it, always end up playing Compound survival at the end of the night with friends.

Aside from the AI sometimes just hanging out near their spawns and not approaching the building. We have noticed that in multiplayer sessions, as long as one player remains within the defence zone. The other players can move wherever in the entire map without the countdown starting. Makes for some interesting gameplay, but doesn't seem like it's intended gameplay.

Absolutely loving the gamemode so far though!

Ah geez, definitely not intended hahaha. Thanks for the heads up on that, once I work on it again I'll try to look into that. I did add a simple wave counter and even wave limit if one wants such, but have yet to update it. Glad you're having fun, though!

Shouldn't be too hard, granted the intended experience isn't to run around the map which it is there to try and obstruct, but more options are always cool.
