Offset rail / Tilting your gun sideways
I'm sort of new to ground branch and have a question. The Offfset Rail allows you to have another sight, and tilts your gun to the side when used. Is their anyway you can tilt your gun like if you are using the the Offset rail without actually having a sight. Kind of like how your gun is tiled in Zero Hour when using night vision, this is a screenshot of what i'm talking about.

+1 it would be REALLY cool if we could.

been messing around with advanced AI settings to try and make them blind and deaf enough to try and make night missions stealthable to moderate success, and being able to canter the rifle without sights would sure make it feel a lot more immersive. the fundamental code for it is in the game; just make so you can still canter with an offset rail regardless if there's any actual sights on it.

Sorry for asking, I'm not a military nerd, but what is the point of it? I'm no shooter, but to me, it seems easier to aim at a target with a reflex sight from the top of an ACOG, then canting your weapon or using offset sights. What are the situations they're ideal for?

I bet its for roleplaying. Roleplaying as certain military units and certain time periods would restrict the use of secondary sights.

tbh a good part of it is role playing, but its a video game... that's kind of the point, lol.

but to be a bit more serious; when your room clearing in the dark with nvg's its easier, and accurate enough to canter the rifle and aim with an ir laser and nods, or even just a visual laser in low light for example. it still lets you aim to some degree and you don't have optics obstructing your peripheral view.

outside of that there's a level of let me play the game the way i want to play the game. the functionality is there, and it just feels incredibly arbitrary to block it behind whether or not you have sights on the offset.

you could even make it so you have to at least have the offset rail to canter, and i would be happy. it wouldn't require any new code either im pretty sure as the game can already recognize when you have an empty offset rail.

( also as a small aside, since im already ranting a little bit anyways, pleeeeeeeease let me put on rail covers past the muzzle again -3- i need my redneck honey badger back xP )

What you're looking for is called Pointshooting.

TY, couldn't recall what it was actually called

In ready position the gun could just remain in its canted position when you are using offset rail (for red dot or iron sight) while aiming down sight as the only change between ready position and ADS is head (and camera) position (at least in 1032). In fact, the gun switching between canted or not - and the related animations - is not that usefull if you just alternate between ready and ADS while aiming with an optic on an offset rail... Then you would have the choice between canted or not for point shooting with a laser (IR or visible). :)

Canting could be used good for looking past large optics though.
