I can understand your point but in the same time, without the movie the Dune franchise wouldn't be as hot as it is right now and maybe they wouldn't even have made the board game in the first place without the boost in popularity.

So yeah, the art is what it is, but i rather play a (good) Dune game than not playing any Dune game at all. (Dune 2 is fine but it's kinda getting old after 30 years)

I second this. I dislike the art direction of the board game myself but it is rather faithful to the movie for better or worse. I find both too drab and desaturated for my personal taste but that's a minor criticism with otherwise a great game.

I said a "good" Dune game. Dune 2000 is just a remake and i wouldn't call the other two good by any stretch of the imagination.

Spice Wars is a generic, Dune themed RTS/4x mix. I wouldn't exactly call it a "good" game, even if you ignore how poorly it utilizes the setting. It's a shallow, boring game.

As far as the artwork is concerned, they need to capitalize on how successful the movie has been. Without the movies, Dune wouldn't even be relevant to the casual sci-fi audience. And it allows them to produce a solid representation of the setting, so small price to pay overall.

The only other options are to use the Lynch Dune or draw their own pictures, and there's no telling how their own interpretations would be. I'm guessing I wouldn't like it. The art could be better though.

Have you played spicewars? it's a fantastic game! plus D2000 is far superior to D2

There should be an option to select original art, not Hollywood cast.
