Never played the Board game
Is it something to get into easily or does it have a steep learning curve?
And is there another board / card game you can compare it too?
I really liked the LOTR board game

I have to say it's very intuitive, as most things you need to know is very clearly shown on the board itself. With the other Dune board game there are so many rules you need to resort to the rule book a lot, but I think Imperium has a perfect blend between simplicity and mechanics.

It's pretty easy to get into. The tutorial does an excellent job of teaching you the basics, and the AI plays competently most of the time. Like any good strategy game, you'll stink at first and get better as you learn what cards are good, which tiles are better than others, etc.

It's a hybrid of worker placement and deck building games, but it does it very well.

Thank you both for answering. One other question is this game fun as single player? Or is it best to play with others?

I'm having a great time solo, the challenges are really fun to try out.

Same. AI is pretty good, and it took me awhile before I could routinely beat them. Then I moved on to the Challenges, which are SP games with a twist. You might get double VPs for one thing, or you might have to pay money to use more Agents, which changes your style of play.

The game has a tutorial and does a decent job. You'll be up and playing in no time.
