It's true to the board game.

It uses the movie characters for artwork, so you'll still get a gender swapped Liet Kynes. However, unlike other games, this one actually captures most of what makes the books great. I think the only thing we're missing is Shai Halud eating troops on occasion, but it doesn't feel like "generic game with Dune Skin".

Maybe that helps?

If Liet Kynes being gender swapped is enough to turn you off, then you're missing out. As far as authentic Dune games on Steam, this hits closer than anything else I've seen.

Good luck.

You're playing a board game. Creative liberties have been taken yes, with Liet Kynes. The books are still the books. This is a board game based on the books. Trust me, the gender of a character on a card doesn't effect gameplay one bit.

Rationalizing will do little here. Don't feed the troll.

You’ll miss out on not only a brilliant board game but a solid implementation too. Pretty rare to find if you’re into such things.

But at least you can sleep soundly knowing you didn’t support the dIsrEsPeCt of a trUe gEnIus, so there’s that.

Good on you dude. It's so important to be righteous and to have standards. Even if it means missing out on faithful video game version of one of the best Dune board games to ever exist. I mean, what's more important? Having a sense of righteousness or having fun? I'm sure Frank Herbert had those standards. It's great that you respect him to the point of worship.

I'm assuming you've read his original manuscripts? That's the only way to read the Dune books. Those editors and publishers probably made changes to his manuscripts before the books were published. Even better, you have to summon his dead spirit and get in his head to really have the purest, truest version of Dune.,

I mean, Shai-Hulud agent action and acquire reward is trashing cards. You can argue that is pretty similar to eating someone...

Liet being female does not change a thing about the story or the game. Just a more modern version. If that is your problem, you are the problem

Sadly yes, this game does follow the movie concerning Liet Kynes. So for no other reason than appealing to a small crowd of pink haired teenagers, LIet is now indeed a woman.

Yeaaaah....

(while on the topic of looks, why are all Harkonnens bald lol? That's so stupid. Is that a law on Giedi Prime, you shall cut your hair?)

But to be fair, the game is a very good one and well worth your time and money.

So yeah, small price to pay.

I think Sharon Duncan-Brewster did a great job as Kynes. In general I am against swapping things about just for the sake of it, but she was excellent in the role.
