From which Persona game should I start?

I've never played any Persona game, I want to start but I don't know which one to buy first.

There is technically only three currently on steam.

Persona 3
Persona 4
Persona 5

Many people consider 5 the best newest one. If you want to play it in order of games, persona 3. Be aware there are different versions of persona 3 on steam right now.

There is also a tactics game on steam too, but it is like a spinoff game, like the dancing ones. I would stick to the mainline ones for now.

The games are not connected, so pick whichever strikes your fancy. I would say Persona 5 Royal > Persona 4 Golden > Persona 3 Reload, but they are all very good and very long.

Glad to hear they are not connected. I personally would like to try the best one first to get into the series and later play the less impresive ones.

5 definitely the best but seriously from 4 first or else you miss the story for you know fun. p3p nah ignore it. P3Reload just remake of it with a lot of qol which make it the last one to touch.

P4G is only 14gb while P5R is 40gb, I think P4 is not very good.

That's a strange sentiment... P4 is awesome!

P5 has better gameplay, though much easier, and it looks much better. But the story's very subjective thing. I prefer P5, but I can understand people who prefer P4. There are many people who think that P3 has the best story, but for me, it's the weakest. It picks higher than P5, but its low points are MUCH lower than P5

If you don't want to think about it too much, go with P5. If you want to think and have preferred theme among P3, P4 and P5, than chose whichever closer to you. P5 is a story about rebelling against society and standing for yourself. It's close to superhero story. P4 is about acceptance of yourself and seeking the truth. It's a murder mystery story. P3 is about accepting mortality and "loss" in a broad sense. It's what I like to call "Greek Tragedy"

Play the first one. Then the Duology then you can play the new Persona 3, 4 and then BEST ONE EVER, 5 Royal.

They technically are connected, but none of the stories affect each other. Some characters from an older entry show up as a cameo in a newer entry, but that's it. It's a neat reference at best

P3 Reload is a new release, but I think everyone can agree that 5 Royale is the best one gameplay wise.

I personally like 4 Golden's story and main cast the most

Just start with the most current game. Then if you like it, go back and play the others. The the stories are disconnected and other than in-game cosmetics, there are few or no references to other games.

My first was Persona 4(PS2) then Persona 3 (PSVita) and the Persona 4 Golden (PS Vita) and then Persona 5 on steam. Golden was my favorite because Persona 4 was really nostalgic for me. But Persona 5 Royal is the most fun so far. ( Haven't played the P3 remake, but I bet it's just as good)
