I'd argue the name is not hispanic. If it were they would have pronounced it as "hose-say" in-game if it was the spanish derivative of Joseph (where the name comes from).

From what I remember though the pronunciation was literally just "joe-se" or "joe-say". This could just be a dubbing mistake, but I doubt it considering the english VA for P5 is on point everywhere else. Either way, this implies it's not the Spanish descent of the name and something else I don't recognise.

This very much sounds like a "it's pronounced SIMON, not Shi-mone!" type ordeal, where it's adjacent to a non-Japanese name but is very much not.

Japanese's language is syllabic, instead of alphabetic. It'd be pronounced joe-say.
