You don't know what you're talking about. Nobuo Uematsu was the original composer of FFVII, and he was also one of the 3 composers that rerecorded and rearranged the soundtrack for FFVIIR. He also made a brand new track for the game.
Do your research next time before posting, thanks.
"No, Y is better."
"No, X is better than Y."
Do any of you actually know what the ♥♥♥♥ you're talking about, on a theoretical level ? Or do you just talk like this either because you can't have an opinion of your own and if enough people say something is good then it MUST be good, or because you just can't stand it when other people think that whatever you love isn't the bestest thing in the whole wide world ?
It won because FF7 really has a better soundtrack without a doubt. Although actually winning the award was a surprise to me, because of the popularity of P5 in general and every fan praising it's soundtrack. So I personally voted for FF7 there but my guess was that P5 will win it because of the sheer number of fans voting for P5's soundtrack. So FF7 won in the end. People do have ears as it seems.
I personally wouldn't vote for Persona's Sountrack if it goes against FF7 and I didn't either. I disregarded the fact that I didn't like the new FF7 game, I simply focused on the soundtrack since that section was for that award. I'm not a fanboy of anything, so I didn't vote based on my game preference, and I voted for which game music I think it's superior.
You are in the first palace you ambush a shadow The Take Over plays you do the same in the final palace the The Take Over also plays even the boss theme changes and this damn thing don't
The costumes being a single song also doesn't help
Oh without any doubt Persona 5 has incredible soundtrack, even made me stand up with my controller and dance on some of them :)) But we had to compare soundtracks. Overall I prefer P5 over FF7 Remake as a game (I didn't buy FF7 Remake in the end, but I did buy P5R at Steam release day), but we had to focus only on the musical score there only for that award, disregarding the rest of things these games have to offer.

I’m not the person who started a thread complaining about another game winning an award, I’m merely defending the decision
I’m far from a fanboy, modern FF games are generally crap, remake was half decent a best but it inherited an amazing soundtrack
Persona 5 is decent enough but overhyped to F. Maybe because it’s a little more niche people like to gravitate towards it but the writing and story is piss poor
For a game that likes to vouch its visual novel inspired the characters are super bland too.
FF doesnt have a ''classic'' soundtrack. That aside, type of song doesnt matter either. Any kind of song can be amazing depending on the kind of game, or even scene it is used for.
FF7 has some very good tracks, altho also very dated. Overall soundtrack is very good but not so good I consider it ''one of the greatest ever'' And I dont know about this remake but all the remixes of FF7's music ive heard managed to sound worse despite having superior sound quality and not being as limited the original FF7 music was.
Certainly agree with that one. Its not surprising tho, considering its the soundtrack for the most overrated boss character in jrpg history.
I kind of thought you had played enough games to know thats not the case.
Even a game like Destiny 2 has a way better track:

It's been too long since I went through all the tracks in FF7, but I do know I dont even consider it one of its top tracks.
I dont disagree. Like you, im used to better standards from visual novels. The writing in the s-links is still good, but for some reason the main story is on the weak side with Okumura arc being very weak in particular.
