no crossplay = dead online after 2 weeks to a month

Why is there no crossplay in this... sigh

Capcom anniversary collection died online after 1 month, and this will likely be the same case

Crossplay needs the support of not just Capcom, but the various platforms the game releases on. Not an easy task even with massive well known titles. Plus if the game is patched, it's difficult to get them patched at the same time due to each platform having its own rules about how updates are rolled out. Should it be done? Yes. Can it be done? Depends on all those involved playing nice.

I mean you got valid points and im not in the gaming industry.. so I cant realistically speak on the process, step by step... but I feel like at least from what I seen, these so called difficulties of implementing cross play are hardships from the past. I say that, because I see more and more indie titles implementing cross play left and right like its no problem.

Its less of hardships and more of "Does Sony and Xbox want to play ball". Iirc, Sony even had a thing where if the game made too much money on other platforms, you would have to fork up some of that money to Sony. I forgot their reason but it was stupid.

DNF Duel is the main reason why I hesitate getting this collection. If I buy it tomorrow I'll play during the weekend and that's it. Because as soon as DNF drops I won't play anything else.

30th anniversary died because the online system was built to dissuade players. the lobby system was strategically segregated in the most hilarious way, the ranking matches are segregated with no training mode to ranking mode challenges integrated, the netcode was purposely bad. it was built to fail. we will see how the lobby system operates in this game but the fact the netcode is rollback gives it an astronomical advantage over 30th

What happened to buying games because you like the franchise(s) or want them all to conveniently work for you? I have been using fightcade for years, but I am always troubleshooting some sort of error and besides that there is no extra content like modes or the artwork/concept art you get with collections.

What do you mean by getting adjusted? I already play on fightcade from time to time. It's been 20 years that I've bought my 1st Darkstalkers game. I've also played on arcade cabinet and bought remaster at launch on PS3, The only game I've never played here is Red Earth / Warzard.
I'm just interested to support the collection at launch. I know if I don't buy it now, hype will be gone and I probably won't buy it later.

This "it's sony/nintendo fault" argument is tiring when a lot of tiny indie games have crossplay with no issues.

I don't think Sony or Nintendo have any say about crossplay at all nowadays, otherwise I doubt games like Power Rangers and Fantasy Strikes would have crossplay.

Search better they do, At least Sony does. They do ask for money for the game to be crossplay Just google it and you will find out about it.

Actually crossplay isn't as difficult as people make it out to be, the thing is you do need to make sure each platform is on board, however Capcom has to be willing to foot the bill, because the one consistent element with adding crossplay is to be able to test around all platforms with QA, this is usually the element that stops most devs from adding that feature, either they lack the resources or they don't want to foot the bill.

This. I got this just to avoid fightcade.

Crossplay is nice, but i'm sure the PC community will be alive for a while, even if it turns into a "discord game".
