Realm of the impossible: a Terminator appearance/crossover

I know that this is impossible as the Robocop and Terminator IP rigths are held by two different companies and that this is primarily a Robocop game. But it would really have be exciting if there had been a Robocop/Terminator crossover, even if it is like a 'dream' scenario.
Perhaps taking inspiration from the first Robocop/Terminator crossover comic, Terminators that have gone back in time to locate Robocop and force Robo to integrate into the Skynet computer OCP has been building after Cyberdyne lost the contract (their R&D facility and all remnants of the original terminator having been blown up).
Or maybe not even that elaborate, just a Terminator in Detroit on an assassination mission and Robo has to track it down and stop it before it finds its target.

Impossible but it is fun to imagine.

Have you ever read the comic crossover? Real cool stuff, i wouldn't say its impossible but you're right, it is very difficult to get crossovers like this made and finished. Its hard enough to get ONE project done and released, so one thats owned by two companies is even harder.

Absolutely not. I want this game to be pure Robocop authenticity.
I'm ok with Robocop vs Terminator, but that should be it's own game.. or at most, a spin off DLC for this game, not, in any way, part of the story campaign of Rogue City.

There was a Robocop vs Terminator game that came out in the 16 bit era if memory serves.. not to mention the comic book adaptations.

if they made a game before they can make that game again.

If they did it again i would like 2 campaigns 1 as robo, 1 as the t-800 and have the stories playout from different perspectives. like the AvP games.

Not only was Robocop vs Terminator a major thing back in the day, it was written by the legendary Frank Miller.

Yes, I own copies of the original mini series myself, it had its flaws here and there but I really liked the idea of how the two creations could be brought together. I also checked out the Dynamite Press mini series but it was pretty bad.
One of the biggest problems I could see would be licensing the rights for both IPs.

Yep, that is where the wish for this comes from. The original mini series and the games that it inspired. The original games were fun side scrolling action-platformers (I liked both the Sega 16 bit and the SNES versions) but now the player could feel more like being Robocop while hunting down and destroying the Terminators in the Detroit present. Like in the demo actually having to do police investigation to determine who is a Terminator, why they are here, and having to gather clues to track them down. (yeez, its almost Blade Runner like)

I think it would have been best to keep things in the present as taking the campaign to the future would add more complexities to the gameplay and I am not sure if people are ready yet for another jetpack Robocop ;)

Heh, but that is what I was suggesting :D That it would have been fun for a DLC type of expansion with a small campaign. Not as any part of the main campaign. It could be a dream/what if scenario.
A complete game would be cool but that would require a whole new design plan for the gameplay, and licensing issues simply make that impossible.

Everybody knows about Robocp vs Terminator, there were comics, video games, toy line etc.. but it was never a "major" thing. Was never as big as Aliens vs Predator for example.. that was major thing.

Not sure why you feel the need to be dismissive about it and add qualifiers. It was a big deal in my circles. Of course AvP was bigger, they were both owned by the same people. Most the people here talking about The Miller comics, have never read it, i guarantee that.
