empty open world?
This is an honest question to all of you complaining that the world is empty, I genuinely want to know what you think is lacking, what you think is missing and what you compare this too.

Because i find it to be a vastly rich open world, with a large world, a lot of enemies moving around wherever you go. Labyrinths and landmarks all over the place, even open world bosses and other stuff to do. Times challenges with score reward in many different ways.

But i want to know others opinion and not just get an "its empty" without any explanation.

Lets please have a civil discussion about this like normal people and not troll/harass others.

What the game lacks is unique events in the open that are unexpected (and I don't mean nightmares or basic mutants guarding a chest). Unfortunately, devs dug themselves a massive hole when they came up with a story that pretty much involved the apocalyptic last stand with a barren inhospitable world that is so deadly it prevents virtually any exploration for 99+% of the world. This means you wont interact with people generally while out and about in unexpected or unique situations both at random (or designer placed) or via quests that start out being given somewhere like a hub and then later performed in the wild. The racial limitations and other lore issues further limit this, whether humans or not.

The game really doesn't need a bunch of mere padding low quality quests but actual interesting flavored activities that aren't overly repetitive. It is interesting how the item situation was handled and I agree that it isn't ideal, not just because limited but the associated systems make it feel even less rewarding for quite a few reasons really such as investment, weak value reward vs alternatives, crafting advantages, etc.

Never played RDR2 but Witcher 3's was awful. Due to how the loot system is designed it actually is extremely anti-exploration because if you do quests or explore early you permanently lock yourself out of good loot as its forcibly downgraded to low level stuff. You basically have to do the quests at the very end of the game. Plus, the loot design also makes the rewards equally uninteresting to Forspoken. Its not unique or rewarding tbh, even at late game. As for Witcher 3's quests and open world activities... mostly awful. They got some cooler ideas like preparing for a few better developed quests but, in truth, even those quests are pretty mundane. Probably says something when I find Xenoblade Chronicle's (original) 600+ quests more engaging, despite being often repetitive, due to world design, interesting NPC results/recruitment and dialogue (better than Witcher 3's for sure), vision preemptive completion mechanic, etc.

Fallout's are cool, though I do feel the world is too disconnected overall and excessively barren despite doing some stuff correct. I'd like to have seen Forspoken at least go more in Fallout's direction. Too bad Bethesda has trash tier programmers who can't check their scripts and you run high odds of permanently breaking your game/saves/quest chains due to critical bugs unless you use a strategy guide specifically telling you how not to break the game (yup, bethesda games have such a thing that is how badly programmed they are). Skyrim's is, of course, a buggy Bethesda mess as well. I'm sure they've gradually improved years later but its sad it takes years and you can still find critical bugs. I feel Skyrim's is less well designed than Fallout's and Skyrim wastes too much time on local hub quest design and really freaking boring quests/dialogue. Its still better than Forspoken's though unless played in the first 2-3 years after release due to how tedious its bugs are.

It's empty from the world design, It just looks bland and not a lot in there. The art team did a bad job.

still not answering the question, "not a lot" of what? and how does the looks of the open world regards the content in it?

so lacking art is the equivalent of "nothing to do" ?

Honestly Maybe you should go to an art gallery instead of playing games?

I didn't say that, we have a different meaning of empty.

fair point, then one more question what do you compare it too? what you consider is "not empty"?

Played the demo, watched over an hour of a stream and this game gives me Dragons Dogma vibes for the more open areas. But that one was over 10 years ago, and we're in 2023 now.

Dark souls world designs are also good, very detailed and interesting.

There is also little loot in the game.Several cloaks and necklaces
Developers need to implement loot and add new types of equipment. For example: Shoes and rings
And developers also need to add a large number of hairstyles
Add a system to create your own gear
But most importantly, create dynamic tasks, even if they are monotonous.

The loot part is fair but honestly this in enough, horizon zero dawn had about the same amount, but they also had weapons this one have magic instead.

But the "go kill mobs" side quests are integrated in the upgrading of your spells, and there are a lot of them.

But i get your point, i can't say I agree with most of it but i get it for sure

tried them but hated them, slow and boring IMO, did not test the open world but the story and gameplay put me off hard

LOL copy pasted content aka ubisoft "open world" style. Every quest in the Witcher 3 have better story telling than this entire game lol. Heck even the paperwork sidequest is more fun than this game.

"Open world" feels like a stretch. The world opens up as you progress, but you're gated until certain traversal skills are unlocked (not counting the story areas where it won't let you leave for story reasons).

The terrain is interesting, a lot of pretty things to look at and unique landmarks and sites. It looks like they're leaning more towards exploring and experiencing than the typical 'kill all the monsters and loot all the things'. Enemies aren't very common out in the wild, and most gatherables aren't worth the energy to pick them up.

Other open world games are more or less the same; just with more mobs and junk to collect to distract you.
