Out of sheer greed
In some countries that don't use € currency price can be lower, mostly due to fact that they will have lower VAT
Also, game is extremally mid, bought it, refunded it. If it will go down to... 25€ on sale then I may buy it to just run around. It's not worth the price. On CDKeys already EU keys are 50€ cause nobody buys this.
So why octopath traveler ii (the next square-enix game) is 60 dollars / 60 euro?

All these games cost 70 dollars / 70 euro.
It's nice that you guys are old enough to know about taxes but that's not how it works. Literally every game, as I have stated already previously, has a lower price in sheer numbers than the US prices.
The only sensible reason here is a) Square Enix just made a mistake, or b) they just wanna milk the allegedely rich Europeans. And like I said, and I come from one of the the rich countries in Europe, even 60 euro is quite different than 60 dollar in the US. And I am not talking about the minimum wages here (which are actually higher in Germany) but I am talking about what you can actually buy with your money. Also, from what I know from some years ago, despite the legal minimum wages, most Americans in Flordia (!) made much more money than me and my colleagues here in Europe.
All that being said, the proof is there. EVERY game has a lower euro price than US prices (except for escpecially greed companies like Activion where it is 1:1).
And again and again and again, people in other European countries where the euro has much less value, well, they are just ♥♥♥♥♥♥, aren't they?
Nice one!
Nice proof!
But that being said, it should be 60 dollar/euro. Those absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. And at the same time they fire people left and right in the big companies right now.
I sincerely hope some people choke on their fat paycheck. I am sick and tired of what the gaming industry is becoming.
It is the only plausible answer really.
You have publishers that will list the price of the game lower in EU or in some other countries depending on the income of the people living there.
Other publishers just want to milk everyone and don't care, so they want full price for all games.
80€/per copy, will probably be same amount of money received by the publisher, that $70 will be, after the tax. People in us often will pay VAT % during the transaction so for example california will pay 7% tax during payment, so they ultimately pay $75. In for example germany vat is 19%. So they will receive still less, cause €65 not whole 80.
Greed is key to everything, but it all comes down to the VAT in every region.
Square wants to be greedy and get more/less same amount for each copy sold, so they set price higher for some regions.
Literally is how it works.
Wanting to be right somehow making you right, however, that is really not how anything works.
So many people these days just function on sheer wishful thinking and delusion, it's insane.
