I played the demo and I actually think the game is fine. It's not as pretty as some more recent titles, but it still looks FINE. Not fantastical, but fine. Gameplay is interesting, I do feel like it will get stale.

The protagonists actor is also fine, but her dialog is genuinely cringe. If it wasn't for her script It'd be tolerable.

It's not amazing, but I am having a decent time after 2.5 hours so far. Story is somewhat interesting and it's not nearly as "cringe" as everyone makes it out to be. I don't think it is worth $70 though. I got it off Greenmangaming for $55, but I'd say wait for like $40.

The game-play seems great, if not a little shallow on the level of pokemon and elemental weakness gimmicks.

The main character Faye is awful tho,
She is just non-stop rudeness from beginning to end and kinda genuinely unlikable.

Kinda sours the mood of the entire experience when the MC is is whining the entire time, like everything you do in an action exploration game is a chore. All while being really really really mean to her magic arm band almost every chance she gets.

Also most of the world swings between a muddy brown and neon disco funky time for no other reason than the devs thinking shiny = good.

Game is okay, not bad as many people say it is, not 70$ for that sure.

I would say don't take negative reviews to serious especially most of them not more then 5 hours of game-play.

I have only played a couple of hours but so far so good as far as game content is concerned. Performance wise game is very system heavy. Settings need to be heavily tweaked even on a 6900xt to get 60fps so certainly needs optimisation. That being said though game looks pretty phenomenal even with some of the settings turned down

If you've seen everything out there for the game and think you'd like it, then get it. Not nearly as bad as reviewers say, and if you like what it's about, actually pretty good. The world and magic are good and interesting. Speaking objectively, is it great? No. But it's more than enjoyable if you just set your expectations right.

Try out the demo and see what you think. I thought the combat was fun and it had interesting world design. Not the best looking game I've ever played and the spec requirements seem a bit over the top for how it looks. Performance was solid but felt unoptimised (it's a demo so take that in context). You absolutely will want to go into the accessibility settings and turn dialogue to "minimal" otherwise Frey will have something to say every time you walk half a meter and it may just make you want to reach into the game world and choke her to death!

But as a TL;DR... It was better than I expected after seeing the initial reaction, but not anything particularly great either.

ive only played about 2 hours ..and i dont want to play anymore..if you like to watch a movie and occasionally click things and be told where to go and how to get there this game is for you..and the dialogue is so taxing and drawn out ..its not worth it.. maybe it could have been a netflix show or something instead...it isnt a game...its an interactive movie or show or something...but like i said im just 2 hours in..and gonna uninstall it...i dont dig this type of content...i spent the entire 2 hours i played mostly just not touching the controls occasionally clicking one button to fight rigged mini boss battles , learing that doesnt matter much what you want to do the game is gonna put you there anyways..and the dialogue is draining...SOUL draining.

Don't even bother playing the demo,

I went in with low expectations and don't care about all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ surrounding the game,

The game itself has problems, the combat and parkour feel too easy and un-intuitive (xbox one controller), the music is soulless and the graphics looks utterly ♥♥♥♥ on a 3080 ti,

what a disappointment, I wanted to like this game and have something new to play but I guess not...

I'd call it average. It's not top tier, unless they do a bunch of bug and graphical fixes, but the combat and exploration are fun. Not sure I would recommend full price though if you are unsure about it.
