Forspoken's spec sheets online it says in the "Storage" section "DirectStorage support under Windows 11 (NVMe SSD recommended)" and 65% of Steam user's per survey are still on Windows 10...
Potentially not good unless that is a mistaken spec listing by Square Enix.
Worse when people realize DirectStorage DOES work on Windows 10 but Square Enix was potentially cutting corners and not implementing it for Win10 to really rub salt in the wound.
Then potentially really bad.
If this turns out to be incorrect then possibly could be good, at least for AMD users but it remains to be seen if it will be worse off for Nvidia (very heavily AMD sponsored title, even going so far as to outright refuse to include superior alternatives like DLSS while marketing FSR and other PR for/shared by AMD in this project over the years).
I do not think they send review keys for PC version and well.. what Xengre said.
As far as I know, Forspoken is supposed to be the first game using DirectStorage.
When it comes to Windows 10 and DirectStorage,it will be supported at one point but won't support the full featureset of DirectStorage, whatever that means, we will see I guess.
I hadnt even noticed that part of the specs. I wonder how big of a deal DirectStorage will be for the performance of this game.
4080 coupled with a 12700 and 32 gb ram. It either is the most taxing game of all time or it is poorly optimized.
I'm guessing it is the latter because the game runs on ps5 on 4k and PS5 has nowhere near the specs that is recommended for the PC.
Nah the game runs not even close to 4k on PS5, it upscales from down to 720p using FSR 2.2, goes down to 20 FPS in quality mode in some parts
