Well, but to be fair nether the original PC nor the original console versions have quick save. :>

I like this idea, and it should be a option, it never hurts to have more options
News flash - you can choose to not do quicksaving if you want an extra challenge; just like you can do no-deaths if you want to, simply by closing the game and deleting the save after you lose. That, or Night Dive may add an OPTIONAL mode with no mid-level saving if they CHOOSE to do so.
Your obscure, odd preferences dictated by sub-optimal 1990s cheap consoles with no memory cards should not be dictated to any PC player who has always had a hard-drive in their unit. Games have had quick saves since Doom in 1993.
Challenge has nothing to do with it. True challenge is in gameplay; not inane limitations caused by hardware manufacturers not wanting to spend money on memory.

I can't for the life of me understand the mentality of the gatekeeping crowd who wants to take choice away from players when they can just... opt to not use it themselves
Literally never a good argument for omitting quicksaving.
Checkpoints are dotted throughout levels. The levels themselves are all relatively short anyway. Hope that helps!
Still not ideal. Don't suppose there'll be a demo so we can see how forgiving or unforgiving these are situated?
Personally speaking, a lot of the difficulty in the initial console release (PSX and Saturn) stemmed from its archaic controls of having to hold a button in to manually adjust your vertical aim, making platforming sequences rather cumbersome. With a more standard control scheme in place, a lot of the frustration is removed.
