Help on approach shots?
I don't play in real life so some concepts aren't familiar. Now every approach shot I do never goes anywhere near the hole. I can get it to land near but it will roll like crazy forward or back off the green most times.

I've tried all available shot types. I can't use flop or spinner unless I already missed the green close, but no shot available from a standard approach distance will stick for me. What can I do here? Aiming short or long doesn't seem to help. Spin controls maybe?

Apply high in your shot shaping left stick also adjust aim making sure your blue arc line is aimed at the pin

As said pull back on ball when aiming. Line the end of the arch shot line over the pin to adjust for wind. Expect bigger clubs to not stop and need to bounce in rough or fairway onto green to get it to slow and stop. 60w finese shot pull back on shot angle set up with arch line lined up to drop on pin usually stops well. A 3w will probably need to bounce on or roll onto green. If the green is far below elevation from your spot expect most shots to sore farther to account for distance increase from elevation drop. If elevation is higher you may need to club up to get the ball up there.

Shot type will also help stick the ball. I now use Knockdown almost exclusively from the fairway, any "approach" shot type I have hit always end up off the putting surface. I also expect that when my power increases I can use shorter clubs, allowing for spin and better distance/height control. Hope that helps!

club choice as well goes into it for spin etc. if its a 60 i always aim past the hole expecting a 10/15 foot backspin,54 less, 50 basically a bounce and a stop. just gotta play around with it, every course is different as well

Actually now that I went back in, it's not standard approaches. The trouble is long approaches. Like second shot on a par 5 or tee shot on a par 3. When you are 200 plus yards away the shots available and the angle of your shot make it impossible to stick it. It will always run a lot and I still can't figure out how to account for that properly. I know I can just factor in an extra stroke and play for pars, but I'd rather not have to.

Now that I've got some skill points I'm using finesse shots for anything about 5 iron or higher, it helps to cut down the roll after landing
