There is lots of customisation and options to the way you want to play the game down to every detail so you can be assisted in many ways or left to your own eye.
I think the ball behaves mostly as you would expect, moves and bobbles in the rough, spin is relatively aggressive, hitting the ball straight and true comes down to your stick control aswell, straight down and up and it will be pretty sweet if you account for the wind but you can add a bit of slice to it if you get messy on the down swing.
Lots of equipment to unlock but in typical EA fashion if you want it fast you will pay but i can see its possible to just play the game and slowly unlock clubs, bags, clothing etc.
I think it plays a good game of golf, quite slow, commentary seems relatively accurate. A lot of negatives seem to be lots of crashing for people, some are not happy about it being ''always online''... some are just used to the speed of 2k23 and think that plays a better game but for me (having not played 2k23 if being honest) i think there is quite a lot to like, the career seems solid but i should say i do not play online and i also do use a very high end PC (5800x 3d, Rtx 4090, very fast storage), all of which might contribute to it not crashing. i think visually its nice but not the best, sky is a little low resolution, some textures are low res aswell, bridges, rocks etc... not bad but not amazing, good enough.
Would really like the mouse swing as in tiger 08, but after some smart people on you tube gave tips on what does what, I see how the mechanics work.-(Where is the game play guide?)
the graphics are amazing-and if you really like golf and go into this as a golfer-not a gamer.
You most likely will enjoy it.
(heres a tip for the stick swing I had no idea about til recently: for tempo-you have to let go of the stick after the follow through{back to center} or your shots will not be as accurate as you expect. doesnt matter for putting, for tee to green its important.
Most negative reviews are:
1. Anything from EA don't buy;
2. Brainwashed by 2K23 - as in the swing in EA is completely different;
3. Can't get past the pronoun.
1. Consensus EA doing a good job with this one, listening to players and slowly adapting and refining, fixing issues.
2. 2K has course designer and better online play - EA has better career mode, better ball physics, immersion, presentation. 2K play is quicker.
3. Can't get past the pronoun
Edit, Why cant i use mouse to swing ?
otherwise you can play with 3 click. the absence of mouse is what turned alot of pc players off.
You cannot tell the stats of any specs you get, cannot tell if any specs are on your clubs, I just crashed 3 times after not playing for a month. This game is absolute garbage. Waste your money if you want. But unless you like sitting in career mode shooting -53 under over 4 days against the AI then you are going to bored out of your mind in 2 weeks
under what category is this "amazing" it has proper physics in a game in 2023. YAY. You cannot play online, if you do its just stroke play (seem like a guy who knows his golf, you hopefully can see thats an issue), there are random dead spots on course that give you a drop even on the green (TPC Sawgrass 17th an example), Complain about everything because everything is missing. Its a single player career mode game where the AI loses by 15 strokes on the hardest settings lmao. But hey you went to the RBC Heritage so you gotta know
