Any wonder why history regarding the diabolical state of the games market is yet again starting to repeat itself from the mid-80's/early-90's poor era till the PC indie developers saved the day for everyone by showing the big boys at the time new genres that could make big money.... nowadays it's gone back to basically the same games & themes rehashed over & over....
Apparently people are in general are simple idiots who never learn NOT to give big companies like Sony & Microsoft a virtual monopoly in the games market or the games market will stagnate yet again, but hey no surprises, they've done it yet again.... very poor quality crap coming out from supposed AAA game dev companies at exorbitant pricing!!
So, how do people know if the games crap until they buy it? Why does that make them lemmings?
I'm assuming you bought it, otherwise you're just taking people's word that it's no good. Does that not make you a lemming?
Calling customers "simple idiots" for buying a product from a large company is ridiculous.
The criticism the "simple idiots" have given this game will either kill its future or force an improvement.
As for the "long time" before anything is 10% off, you must completely skip the initial steam page, where everything is roughly 70% off... lol
Most people paid 120, 100, or 60 for 2k23 and got less official course content and less content in general...good for you showing them by waiting till the game was halfway thru its life cycle to pay 21 dollars less...that game is released yearly/biyearly and has had their license for 3 years
Most companies will reduce their pricing depending on the number of sales, hence when a new product comes out the cost is high due to the higher manufacturing costs for the few products initially sold, but as more products are sold the costs of manufacturing come down and so does the market price......
But with with digital goods it's different. They can set their price at a projected number of likely sales, but they don't do that, they mark their market price at what they deem people will be willing to pay no matter how little the game cost to develop & produce.... this is definitely leaning towards blatant profiteering at the expense of idiots who simply accept whatever price these companies set.
Put it this way - If no one bought the game at $69.99 then I guarantee you that EA would very quickly drop the price by a third or even a half and they'd still make a huge profit given the numbers of units they will sell for this game.
The realistic price for this game will only come out when EA have milked all the idiots willing to pay anything for this game before EA put this game on 50% - 80% sale reduction price, that will be the real realistic market price EA are willing to sell this game to the majority of people who want to buy it. :)
You are currently being taken for a royal ride by EA guys..... wait for the sensible pricing in the coming sales for this game..... make EA realise we know what they are up to and they cannot take us all for simpletons! :)))
You are right of course. I am guilty of it but can say it's by far, very far, the most expensive game I have bought on Steam.
Soon approaching 100 hours and barely touched a full season, the sponsor challenges, training sessions etc.
I can lift a glass to your good points and sense and take moderate comfort that whatever the price I paid, for value for money in terms of hours played and enjoyment, it would be worth it.
EA, saved the golfing genre on PC, then killed it, then resurrected it. Least the front page of the game on Steam is not flogging coins and vc as the other one does and I can thus feel a little superior!
there are plenty of games that dont use a license, go try perfect golf, they have 100s of superbly designed real world courses and its a decent golf game with 5 methods of swing... i wanted a game with a licensed career mode and 2k's pathetic attempt at a career mode was just not good enough...this is way better.
They'd also cancel projects, reduce their output and lay people off. Sounds like that's an OK outcome for you as long as it satisfies your wallet, but don't complain when you see contraction and lost jobs because you think $70 is too much. If they are forced into those price points, that's what will happen.
Thousands of courses sure yes there are many thousands...none, ZERO, zip, zilch at the quality of the ones we have here. You may find one good course in an hour....thats not knocking any designers (over the years ive gotten to know many great people that design for golf games and golf simulators) but with all the ridiculous courses there are in there its not worth my time to go thru them. I as well as others prefer to get the games when they are new, it helps support the people who make the game, and hopefully they get to continue to make future games and hopefully not get laid off.
Whatever i spend on a game i expect a dollar per hour of game play if i can hit that i feel i got good entertainment for my money. Considering if you eat out or go to any event you dont get anywhere near that kind of return in terms of value, there is absolutely nothing to complain about. For comparison, i spent 100 on the other game, 85 on this one...i have 105 hours in this one, and 78 in the other one...i dont consider either a rip off but i certainly enjoy one more than the other ;)
