When I leveled up my putter a point today my puts were all off because I shot in a way I would make them prior i guess.
In a normal golf game you have a control on the quality of the shot. With the classic 3-clic method the strength depends on the second clic and the direction on the third clic. And difficulty settings are just a multiplier of the mistakes.
But in this game you can execute a perfect swing with your controler or with the 2 and 8 keys but a totally random dispersion is added to the shot and you have absolutely no control on this.
In fact you are not playing a golfer but you are playing the caddie. Once you have chosen the type of shot and the aiming point you have absolutely no control on what the golfer will do.
When you play with the 2-8 keys if you aim at a fairway and the dispersion circle is totally on the fairway you are 100% certain to hit the fairway.
I have won the US amateur at 38 under par, then the masters at 29 under par !
I even created a second golfer to play the Asia/pacific championship and won it at -49.
They need to change the mechanics.
You are saying the keypad game with no controller takes out that error of stick not being 100% precises in movement making the ball go wonky? One of the two should be disabled on tournaments. They need to be played with the same controls and variables if so.
No thanks, mechanics and gameplay are what makes this game good unlike 2k.
Turn ya aids off and play on something other than easy easy…imagine how mad real life golfers get when their ball doesn’t go where they wanted lol.
I played one of the challenges on the front 9 of Riviera. One of the objectives being "Shoot -5 or better". I shot -8. No star. Still have the screenshots here.

Then you're getting lucky, because there's greens that show no lines with a putt still moving, there's greens that show lines with grids going left and the putt going right. So if you make putts you just guessed right. It's the same with that Cobra bunker challenge on St. Andrews. Ball goes left or right of center 3 yards randomly. Took me about 25 tries to get it to stop inside 2 feet. There's randomness in this game which a golf game shouldn't have. It's bad.
