Putting is garbage on this game
So I think the putting on this game is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crap. If you don't use the putt preview you'll have no idea where the putt goes, because there's literally situations where the lines go right to left and the putt ended up going left to right. If you use the putt preview the line isn't the correct line, it'll randomly miss high or low. Sometimes I feel like the ball goes straight offline from the putter head. How do you even putt in this game? It's a complete guessing game.

i believe the accuracy of the preview thing as well as room for error increases as you put points into putting skill

Should it not be the opposite? More points in putting should be more accuracy and less crappiness? I literally had lines go right to left but somehow the putt ended up going left to right? If you don't use the preview, you'd never make the putt because you'd follow what you see, right?

I did the french course with Andes mountain shaped greens. The preview was wonky and way out there.

When I leveled up my putter a point today my puts were all off because I shot in a way I would make them prior i guess.

Yah its some of the worst putting ive seen in a golf game. Wait till u start noticing randomly the elevation will say 3 ft up then it plays as if its 3 ft down or vice versa lol

Every shot is garbage.

In a normal golf game you have a control on the quality of the shot. With the classic 3-clic method the strength depends on the second clic and the direction on the third clic. And difficulty settings are just a multiplier of the mistakes.

But in this game you can execute a perfect swing with your controler or with the 2 and 8 keys but a totally random dispersion is added to the shot and you have absolutely no control on this.

In fact you are not playing a golfer but you are playing the caddie. Once you have chosen the type of shot and the aiming point you have absolutely no control on what the golfer will do.
When you play with the 2-8 keys if you aim at a fairway and the dispersion circle is totally on the fairway you are 100% certain to hit the fairway.

I have won the US amateur at 38 under par, then the masters at 29 under par !
I even created a second golfer to play the Asia/pacific championship and won it at -49.

They need to change the mechanics.

You are saying the keypad game with no controller takes out that error of stick not being 100% precises in movement making the ball go wonky? One of the two should be disabled on tournaments. They need to be played with the same controls and variables if so.

No thanks, mechanics and gameplay are what makes this game good unlike 2k.

Turn ya aids off and play on something other than easy easy…imagine how mad real life golfers get when their ball doesn’t go where they wanted lol.

So I don't use the putt preview white line (turned it off after a couple holes with it), and I've found the putting grid and elevation to be accurate for reading putts. It's challenging for sure to get some of them right, especially on courses like Augusta and their tournament greens, but the ball always follows the contours of the green. The rare times it doesn't go where I aim are usually because I pulled the putt on my putting motion.

I haven't found that to be true at all, and even EA has confirmed the lines are flawed. So making all the putts would be plain luck in that case. There has been instances where the putt showed no lines, broke right, and then in hindsight from the other side of the hole you can see break, suddenly, on the line your putt took before going past the hole. It's total garbage right now if you ask me. With that, some of the challenge stars are still not being credited even though I've completed them ... I don't really know with this game, I think I'm taking a break and come back in a month or so to see if things have improved.

Exactly, NONE of the Coaching Academy Stars Awarded, are actually available, even though they're registering as done...

I played one of the challenges on the front 9 of Riviera. One of the objectives being "Shoot -5 or better". I shot -8. No star. Still have the screenshots here.

I'm sinking 20ft putts with no line enabled now. Getting better with putting in this game. More realistic than 2k's putting.
The moving dots are unreliable, however, this is a known bug and will be fixed in the next patch.

Then you're getting lucky, because there's greens that show no lines with a putt still moving, there's greens that show lines with grids going left and the putt going right. So if you make putts you just guessed right. It's the same with that Cobra bunker challenge on St. Andrews. Ball goes left or right of center 3 yards randomly. Took me about 25 tries to get it to stop inside 2 feet. There's randomness in this game which a golf game shouldn't have. It's bad.
