lmao
I get what they were trying to go for (the typical "war is bad"), but the disclaimer every time you start up the campaign, the fictious story about a fictitious family... Just no. There are enough true stories that could be told, they shouldn't need to be making one up. Nevermind the fact that you're pushing that message in an almost Michael Bay-esque war game.
That's not to say it can't be done well. Look at the ending of the Market Garden campaign in CoH Opposing Force. Look at "All Quiet on the Western Front". Christ, look at the Last Tiger mini-campaign in Battlefield V. It can be done, it just wasn't done well here.
In a game like this, I expect more history, more context, legendary battles to actually feel as epic as the recountings.
I don't think many people who play these sorts of games don't understand what war really is and does. That its bad, even when the cause is justified and necessary. So I just don't understand who this was for.
One thing is for certain though, given how short some of those missions were, its clear they spent a vast majority of their funds trying to be Slytherine's Panzer Corps over doing what they used to do so well. Tell an engaging story of bravery, chivalry, loyalty, and sacrifice.
Actually all missions felt like they were cut in half :D
They were really....REALLY short, weren't they?
"I have never seen such a bad work"
You've seen this since first gameplay and still bought into it. If in 10 years they made no visual upgrade at all to the game why do you think magically gameplay will be good?
Then you never played a RTS. I feel bad for you, look at Warcraft, Starcraft or Command and Conquer. In any good RTS the campaign was memorable, challenging as well as stunning and only bad games treat it as a long tutorial. In these games only the first 1-2 missions were beginner friendly and after that you already had challenging games.
Play an actual RTS :) Dont worry even Warcraft 3 that is so old still plays perfectly fine and is better than most other games, you also got lots of custom stuff like campaigns that are even voiced and such made by others. Super nice stuff and plays better than this game lol.
Dawn of War I and II also had amazing campaigns that were a highlight.
I haven't finished the campaign yet (I bought it on PS5) but from what I've seen so far, you're exactly right. The "story" is like.. WTF has this got to do with anything?! It's like the devs were being woke for woke's sake, inserting predictive programming for ignorant idiots to consume. Maybe they want to join Ubisoft? Haha! Take my award mate, cheers!
