This update borked the OS 🙂
I just downloaded and installed the Steam Client update version first (since I also found out that by using the Restart Steam option through the Power menu, you can update the Steam Client without updating SteamOS at the same time). So I chose that method. I was still able to power up my Steam Deck LCD model and boot up the old SteamOS 3.6.2 version, as well as the new Steam Client that just got updated. Then I went to install the new SteamOS 3.6.3 updated version after verifying that the system was deemed still functional. The device was able to extract and install quite smoothly. My device was still able to power up, boot up the new SteamOS 3.6.3 version, and launch Steam Client just fine. So far, no issues as of yet. Sound drivers are working fine as expected, (based on my experience so far).

I also found it funny that the 3.6.3 SteamOS Update Log is the same Update Log post from May 14th, so I am assuming that this is Valve cleaning up corrupted coding from previous Preview Channel package installments.

For me this version is still breaking screen switching in game mode. I have a steam deck OLED. If I connect an external screen (via an usb-c dock/HDMI or DP), the deck correctly uses the external screen. However, if I disconnect the external screen, the internal stays off. The only ways to enable the internal screen again is to switch to desktop mode (both screens are active), disconnect the external and return to gaming mode, or to reboot the deck with the external screen disconnected.
Entering and leaving standby mode doesn't enable the internal screen either.
This has started happening with 3.6.0, if I go back to 3.5 (stable channel) the screen switching works as it should.

So I'm having an issue. The recent updates have presented themselves and I've been installing. Now when I check it's still asking to upgrade to 3.6.3. My current version shows as 3.5.19 (hadn't used it in a while)

I have storage space. Tried updating when connected to power and off charger

Any ideas?

Why is this update being pushed to the stable and beta branches?!

This, and the previous update patch literally got pushed to a bunch of users who aren't even on the preview branch of the OS.

It led to bootlooping issues that could only be fixed by reimaging the drive (restoring the OS using a bootable drive doesn't work).

Paste your efi boot table.

sudo efibootmgr

Run the command and paste the output in this forum.

Define boot looping. If you can enter a deck image, you can modify the efi boot table to fix it.

Seems like your old game mode settings are not forward compatible

Here are the instructions to reset. You give valve your old settings in order for them to debug.
