I always thought the missing scroll wheel thing was a bug.

Steam for Linux runtime 1.0 (scout) ? I onlly noticed that Truck Sims are running on that and all newer games using higher numbers - doesnt it go like higher number means more stability, more bugfixes etc etc?

Newest is not compatible with most games, it could be compatible with only newest games. Scout is most compatible with most games because it runs container inside of a container https://gitlab.steamos.cloud/steamrt/steam-runtime-tools/-/blob/main/docs/container-runtime.md

I just bought a steam deck can't wait It seems like they frequently update their product which gives me hope! among the good reviews i have already read and watched

Don't worry, updates are frequent on the beta channel. The dev team may not direct their attention to what needs it the most at all times, but they usually work it out in the end and that's all that matters.

Each update consists of mostly fixes to quirks that most people wouldn't notice and/or experience. We sometimes get treated to really nice beta exclusive features. Many people hop on the beta channel to try them out and give feedback so it can be polished as much as possible before it ends up on the stable release.

This breaks Super Video Golf (App ID 2173760) which uses the Sniper runtime. Game starts to launch then returns to Steam.

Works perfectly in the current stable branch of Steam Deck though.
