Bruh now mine won't even boot. Good work.
In case anyone else has this problem: I fixed my issues by resetting the BIOS (power down, hold three dots button and volume down then press power button once) and then applying the update via rolling back to the previous version. (hold three dots and press power button once)

Had the same problem - wouldn't boot after the update. In my case I didn't need the BIOS reset step, I only booted to the previous version (with 3-dots and Power) on the B partition and rebooted from there as usual, and then I got booted to the main A partition with the updated SteamOS just fine.

Glad to know it wasn't just me.

Just when my opinion on Valve's software was starting to change, this update gets shoved out in the "stable" channel. <_<

I guess they were trying to fix security issues as quickly as possible.

"Seagulls gonna come, poke me in the coconut."
And they did ...
"Seagulls, stop it now!"

Life Is Strange started crashing after this update. I can barely play for 20 minutes straight

Never mind. I switched to Proton 7.0-6 and the crashes went away. I guess i reached a point where the game crashes no matter what if i look at a certain table when running under proton 8.0-5 or 9(beta), tried both. I even tried rolling back to SteamOS 3.5.17 Which means It was simply by coincidence that the system update was released just before i reached a point in-game where the crashes begin.

Still, proton 7.0-6 seems like the saving grace for a lot of games from that era, now including Life is Strange.

Sounds like a regression.

"Steam Cloud

Fixed case where files for one Steam account could be overwritten by files from another Steam account if the first account had logged in but not played the game yet on the device."

I believe this is why my SD account DL and installed the beta update that SNAFU'ed my audio in stable. Only thing is, I have just 1 Steam account on my SD, unless.....it's because it happened right after i booted out from desktop. Going from Root to User. That still doesn't explain why it DL and Installed from the BETA channel

No keyboard in desktop mode in Stable 3.5.19 unless the seagull is using mind control to type.

Does the definition of update mean: Fix this. Break that? just want to compare as i read on Urban Dictionary that Owhp()daete is when: something that is followed or used is adjusted in some manner usually to add more features and/ or improve previous features or to follow up on the progress of someone, or something such as an item like a electronic device eg. Sir, your update is downloading at an immense speed of 7kbs on your brand new 56K modem. I'm pretty sure i read the other definition in Miriam-Webster's Dictionary
