Alright, you have once again reduced the number of complaints I have about my Steam Deck from 1 to 0.

Why does this appear on the beta channel if it's for preview only?

I had this issue on Beta channel too and downgraded to Stable. Thought it was only on my system, after all its an issue with the update. Thanks for fixing this, I can go back to Beta. :-)

My Steam Deck was offline, not not in offline mode, just no wifi..

I turned it on atleast 3-4 times in that time period & the third time it did connect to wifi for a short period of time. When I got home 6hrs later, my Steam Deck connected to Wifi and sat on "Loading Data" screen infinitely.

I could go into WiFi/Bluetooth Settings, but I could not search for games, view my library, update the software, etc.

I could only use the Steam Store.

My only other option if I did not have a dock & were somewhat technically inclined, would be to Reimage the Steam Deck, which I was not doing.
I manually went into SteamOS via the recovery image and manually reverted the Steam Client back to "Steam Deck Stable".

This is a very serious bug that needs to be investigated, because this would again cause a normal user to be forced to wipe their entire Steam Deck in order to fix.

Will report to Github, but I have zero idea how exactly I triggered this bug, I had literally just gotten home and turned it on for the first time in 6hrs...

Steam Version: 1701289036

OS Update Channel: Main

OS Version: 3.6

OS Build: 20231205.1000

Be extremely careful about turning the Steam Deck off atm, if you are on the Preview or Main Channel specifically in-combination with the Steam Beta. if you don't mind leaving it in sleep I recommend you do that atm.

The GPU bug still exists or it's finally safe to update?

What GPU bug do you mean?

The one that prevents the GPU to move between 200 - 1040mHz which causes various problems. But now I see its an update to the beta version, for some reason they posted it to the stable channel first, so I guess this answers my question.

The More Tangible update caused my Deck to fail loading Steam Client in Game Mode and Desktop Mode. It wasn't an Internet issues. Reverted to Stable Channel, switched back to Beta Channel and Beta Client. Same issue, can't load Steam Client, just sits on the loading screen for longer than 30 minutes. This is the same in Desktop Mode. Tired restarting several times, no change. Docking doesn't help resolve anything. Wireless works as you can access local and Internet locations in desktop mode.

Os: 3.5.10
Os build: 20231206.1
Steam client: 1701825895

Can't use beta channels at the moment. Able to access steam menu with the steam button and revert to Stable.

Those suck in a infinity steam client loading loop, use the steam button, go to about and leave beta, might have to do it a couple of times.

Valve have been saying they're working on "the demonstrable problems", they just don't believe the GPU freq bug is a real thing as far as I can tell.

Valve claimed it was with MangoHUD but there's known issues with AMDGPU for RDNA2 stuff that can be verified outside of MangoHUD.

Plus, Valve engineers are saying "this is a red herring, prove there's performance problems".

The fact they keep saying "we need evidence" without acknowledging the reports people gave or explaining why they don't count reports as evidence is what most bothers me.

If they can't reproduce it on their systems, as I can't on mine, then they have no hope of fixing the bug.

Fixing a bug in software is 99.9% figuring out how to reproduce it and 0.1% the rest of the process.

AMD knows of the bug, so why aren't Valve talking to their engineers? Why keep ignoring the countless reports from Deck owners that this bug is affecting?
