Are you talking about desktop mode or game mode?
This directory has all the configs for desktop mode. You delete it and it resets your monitor configs.
I do not know where is the file in game mode.

I believe you can access the external display setting in game mode. Set it to safe mode.
I guess try to contact support. They might figure out a way to reset the settings.
Edit: while you are at it, report the issue with safe mode. It should still output something. If it doesnt, it kinda defeats the purpose of safe mode.
Safe mode should be an always working option when all crap happens.
Plug in the deck and run that command above. Attach it to steam support

Battery storage can work too.
Yea. Report this issue to Valve support. You are shooting in the dark debugging. Terrible experience. I happy to got the display working. I hope the lock 30 is easier to fix than the dark screen.
The other day i was looking at the display settings to see if i could change the default resolution while docked. I set it to safe mode, and then my monitor which is 1440p suddenly said "out of range" which means the received signal from the deck was either too low or too high.
I checked my windows partition, my monitor displayed fine, I also tried a different HDMI cable in steamos but it still said "out of range"
I tried disabling auto resolution and setting it to something like 720p/1080p but as soon as I connected it to the dock it seem to reapply whatever settings it kept applying for my monitor.
I tried plugging the dock into my 4k tv, and it displayed fine on that.
I couldn't find anything about it, and i was about to reimage my deck when I thought maybe it was worth trying something.
with my steam deck connected to the dock, and the dock connected to my 4k tv, I disabled auto resolution and hovered over the 1080p option but i didn't press any button so it wasn't yet selected. With it still remaining selected but not set, I unplugged the dock from my 4k tv and plugged my monitor hdmi back in, which at first said out of range still, until i pressed A to accept the resolution i was still hovering over it and suddenly my display was back.
My guess is that steamos keeps some track of either displays it connects to and keeps a preference, so if you set it to something it can't display it remembers that but you have no easy way of resetting it.
I'm sure theres probably an easy Konsole command that would reset display preferences, and really there should be somewhere in the display settings but heyho.
I hope this is what you're struggling with, if not damn
