Dock stops working after changing inputs
I just got the official dock and set it up, plugged into my A/V receiver. Everything seemed to work fine, but I soon noticed that any time I turn off the receiver, or even change the input to a different device, the dock stops working properly. When I go back to the input for the dock, I get a black screen. If I unplug the power supply from the dock and replug it back in, it works fine, but obviously I shouldn't have to do that every time I want to use my steam deck docked.

Is anyone else having a similar problem or have any suggestions on what to do? I tried connecting my dock directly to a separate HDMI input on my Samsung tv, and that just didn't work at all. Not sure what else to do here...

What are the models of both the AVR and the TV? Is it possible that the TV has some special feature on input modes that may be enabled?

The receiver is a Sony STR-DN1080. The TV is a Samsung UN70KU630D. My preferred method would be to have plugged into the receiver, but could use the TV if that worked and didn't require me to unplug the power supply every time.

The Receiver should be supported, but it would be nice to try and get to the root of the issue, which seems to also happen with TV only in your setup. Can you try disabling any sort of special input settings on the TV and see if that changes anything?

I was unable to get it to work on the tv connected directly, despite changing or turning off any input settings I could find. I may have got it working with the A/V Receiver by changing it to a different port. It seemed to be working properly, even after turning off the receiver, or swapping inputs, but I did all my testing in a short period of time. Hopefully it still works fine after several hours. If not I'll check back in here.

Having the same problem. Firmware updated. When switching between desktop mode and gaming mode, for example, the first time to desktop works fine, but subsequent changes will make the HDMI unstable and all displays (including the Deck) will flicker continuously. I have to power off and restart to make it stable again.

I have a similar problem with my deck connecting to a samsung smart tv vie hdmi.

First 1-2 days no prolems after getting the firmware update. The last two days in need to unplug and replug my dock to get the picture on the tv screen.

Same problem here. Identical Sony STR-DN1080 receiver, different Sony Bravia TV. At least this thread taught me that rebooting the dock resolves it. Hopefully a future dock firmware upgrade will resolve this? Until then I guess I’ll be putting a switch on the dock’s power cable. Hey Steam, how about a power button on dock 2.0?

I have this issue with an LG UN9000AUJ, 65". Dock is directly plugged into the TV, and when turning on TV and Steam Deck while docked, or docking Steam Deck, the TV will not work - it flickers between No Signal and black screen. Unplugging the power supply from the dock, then plugging it back in while leaving the Steam Deck connected fixes the issue.

Same issue with my dock as well. Works great until I switch monitors, then the Deck LCD just goes black and it never pops up video on the external screen.

To resolve this I have to unplug the dock from power, unhook the deck from the dock, then plug the dock in and wait a few seconds, then plug the Deck back into it. Usually that clears it up. When all else fails I have to reboot sometimes. Needing to disconnect power from the dock is pretty routine for me at this point, and it is a bit frustrating. That's really the only issue i have with it.

It's also worth noting that the USB ports stop reading devices when this occurs as well (at least on my dock), but the same power cycling will get the Steam Deck to recognize connected USB device that are attached to the dock. Seems like a handshake issue. Hopefully it is a firmware bug they can sort out soon.
