Steam Deck Dock Ethernet Stuck at 100Mbps

Hey everyone, I've already reached out to Valve about this but just wondering if any of you with the official dock are having similar issues?

When I first plugged in the dock I noticed that I was getting very slow download speeds (was installing a large game). Peak of ~8-9Mbps. This was pretty consistent, so I thought "okay, for some reason the dock didn't automatically set the ethernet connection to 1Gbps". I found there was no way to check this in Game Mode so I went into desktop mode. Sure enough it automatically set the connection to 100Mbps. So I went ahead and set it to 1Gbps and ran a speedtest; getting a solid 800Mbps. Switched back over to Game Mode and am still running into the same speed problem. It seems it sets the ethernet connection back to auto rather than the manually defined speed.

It's persistent across several reboots and a multitude of CAT6e cables. If I plug the dock into my laptop, it immediately picks up that it's a 1Gbps connection.

Anyone else running into this?

I'm having a problem connecting to the internet when i connect to my dock. It is completely fine when removing the dock and using the deck regularly, however as soon as i try to connect the dock, all connections to my wifi seem to just pause. Really hope they dont make it official to just have an ethernet connection while the dock is plugged in. I can't do that.

I have the same issue. Setting it to 1Gbit prevents it from working in game mode / after restart and had to set negotiation to auto. Hoping a software update fixes this soon.

i have the problem that in desktop mode the Network connection sometimes out of nowhere just stops working and steam deck switches to WLan :( my WLan is a sepperat Lan and cant connect to my network stuff like inhome streaming (replugin the dock works instandly but is not really acceptable if you try to use it as a Desktop ) i deaktivated die WLan interface for now so i dont get a wrong connection

Hopefully steam support sees this because I'm still having the issue. Again, tried multiple cables and multiple drop points.

I remember having a network cable not going above 10 Mb/s. Changed cable, Gigabit.

Same issue. Stuck at 100Mbps with no option to change to gigabit in desktop.
Multiple cables all of which show as gigabit when plugged into the Windows box sitting next to the dock.

same issue here. changed to 1gbps in desktop mode, got 950mbps result in iperf3.
switch back to game mode, 950mbps in iperf3. 2~3MB/s downloading remains.

Is there any acknowledgement from Valve about his issue? I just got my dock today and I'm having the same problem with the ethernet connection being restricted to 100Mbps. Very annoying as I was hoping this would be a workaround for the slow WiFi speeds!

None whatsoever. I eventually gave up, RMA'd the dock and bought a Jsaux HB0603 dock. No problems with that one.

This appears to have been fixed in the latest update! Now getting full download speeds when docked, thanks Dev team!

Hey, kind of unrelated but how did you install iperf3 on the Deck? I've been trying for over an hour, can't figure it out. I'm trying to avoid using steamos readonly-disable but even then, it still says "/usr is read only". I can download the source files but I can't run make, it seems like the Deck doesn't have make.
How did you get iperf3?

Thanks, I don't get the "filesystem is readonly" message anymore, but I still get the error that /.usr is read only.

But I found this: https://github.com/userdocs/iperf3-static

So I was able to just download that all-in-one file and run it like that. Thanks though!

I'm also having the same issue... Connecting the wire in my laptop gives 400 Mbps, and in the steamdeck throughout the official dock, in such at around 90 Mbps...
