No HDMI Audio when Docked

Repro:
1. connect steam deck to dock (official or otherwise)
2. connect dock to Sony A/V Receiver
3. audio does not play in game mode or desktop mode

Device OS is updated to latest stable and steam dock is on latest firmware.

Audio does work via 3.5mm jack, bluetooth, usb (sony wireless headphones), and the steam deck speakers - everything except HDMI audio. Frustratingly, in the past I have gotten audio working over HDMI temporarily. But, it would always stop working shortly after and it has been weeks since I've been able to even get it temporarily working.

This issue is very frustrating as it essentially makes playing while docked non-viable since audio through the speakers is a crucial part of the experience, for me.

Troubleshooting steps I have tried:
1. using different HDMI cables
2. going into desktop mode and trying out each audio output
3. using different usb-c to hdmi docks
4. try different inputs on receiver

Same problem and now I can't get video output from usb c. Have tried to connect through jseaux dock (monitor in hdmi input), direct connection via usb c DP mode to the monitor and latest directly via usb c to a rockid air glasses. No video at all, I suspect it's the latest firmware release. I wrote to tech assistance, suggest you do the same.

in desktop mode, go to the little speaker Icon on the bottom and from there open settings (2nd icon top right).

In here enable the Rembrant audio controller and toggle this as your main audio output
