Audio latency issues when docked.
Just having a problem with the audio when docked, it was fine for the first few days then I've had a consistent issue since 2 week ago where the sound will start to lag a second behind the gameplay after about 10-15 mins of play. The sound lag gets slightly longer the more I play. If I change my tv away from the dock input channel and then back again the sound is back to normal for a bit before it starts to lag again.

I'm assuming it's an issue with the dock and I have tried the following:

New Hdmi cable

Changing which hdmi port the dock is plugged into on the tv.

Turning game mode off on my Tv. (Game Mode is on, was just checking if turning it back off made a difference)

Turning Deck off and on.

The sound is absolutely fine when undocked and I do not have this problem with my Switch or PS5.

I have searched for other people with this issue but have only found posts about bluetooth latency or sound not playing at all which is not my issue.

Have talked to support and they have suggested the following which has not helped:

Checked performance overlay whilst issue was happening, there is no difference between the performance during the issue and before the issue.

Reimaged my deck

Tried a different external display.

Gone into desktop mode and made sure the HDMI audio has been selected.

I cannot reproduce the issue when the deck is not docked, it only happens when it is connected to the television.

Has anyone had any similar issues or got any suggestions? At this point it feels like I need a replacement dock.

Hi, I ended up returning the official dock and got a JSAUX one instead, issue has disappeared since. Sorry I can't help more.

I'm just going to bump here this issue still exists to this day,... Valve please ... fix the dock audio over HDMI.. X.x

a work arround for this issue is to use the 3.5mm audio jack and connect it to a set of speakers OR use bluetooth audio

but I'd rather just see this problem patched liem it should have been done ages ago

I just ran the latest Dock Update and now no issues. Before I had between 1 and three seconds delay.

To everyone reading this, I ended up doing the exact same thing.

the issue isn't resolved ENTIRELY but this dock takes much longer for the audio to lag behind IF IT HAPPENS AT ALL. Most of the time it works perfectly fine!

(I'm talking there's a 1/50 chance the audio lags behind after 2 - 3 hours with the JSAUX dock as opposed to a 49/50 chance for the audio to lag behind after 30 minutes with the original,.... or that is what my experience is like after 6 months of use with the new dock)

even more info, I had this issue on both the LCD and OLED decks with the original dock. Both issues became significatntly more manageable (as decscribed above) with the JSAUX dock.

Valve REALLY needs to look at what is causing this.
