Cannot update the dock firmware.
Once I connect the dock to the deck, there was an update notification showed up, I clicked apply the update, but it always failed to update, and show error as dock has been disconneted. Have tried to restart and reconnect many times, but the same issue still persist.

Try saying no to the update and then going to settings. Worked for me. :hp_kyu:

Same issue here, updating from the settings screen doesn't work

Mine updated but then said that the update was not installed and to unplug the dock and plug it back in. Now the update prompt isn't showing up. I've tried fully unplugging the dock and restarting the deck. Going to settings and checking for updates shows no updates available.

How can I check the firmware version of my dock and confirm it has been updated??? Is there a way to bring the dock update back up?

Same issue here and the dock isn't outputting video either.

Have you tried checking the display settings? Mine is working but I'm not sure if it is up-to-date. I wish steam had more guidance on this firmware update.

It finally started working but I'm not entirely sure why. I first tried plugging it in and got no output so I tried restarting the deck. That broke the output on the deck itself also so I did a hard shutdown and saw the dock update message. Tried the update a few times, but I can't tell if it installed or not since it still shows I have an update available in the alert section (bell icon from the right steam button menu). It still didn't output video after attempting the update a few times. After that, I plugged in my old cheap dock and it worked, then I switched back to the Valve dock and it was working.

so after several failed updates, do to "lost connection with the steam deck" i flipped the main power USB-C upside down and it started to update. A friend slightly elevated his deck in the dock (how it sat) and theirs started to update. Not sure what the true root of the issue is, however it seems to me that connections may not be maintaining full contact. GL

Same issue. Dock installation wizard showed up initially then failed. Has not shown back up and cannot find anywhere to prompt it to install. Tried resetting (dock), restarting deck, different order of pluging in/power etc. Stuck.

Had the same issue, Dock was bricked. Prompt on the Lock-Screen messed everything up.

My solution:
- Unplug everything (Controller, Power, Monitor/TV) from the dock and the Deck.
- Turn of the Deck. Wait.
- Plug in only USB-C Dock to the Deck (no power, no monitor).
- Start the Deck. Skip the prompt on the Lock-Screen and login normally. Now follow the instructions to update the dock.

- Should work this time, at least worked for me.

- After this you can reconnect all the other stuff.

No dice for me :(

As a sanity check, can someone who has successfully updated their dock's firmware tell us its new firmware version from System > Settings (it is at the bottom of the About section)? Maybe those of us who cannot update our firmware already have the latest version installed.

Flipping the main power USB actually worked for me as well? Very strange.

Updated Dock firmware version is 0.13.15.106.
I was able to get the update to work by disconnecting the power to the dock.

Thank you! I was looking for this information myself. Thought mine didn't update.

Still having issues getting a picture on my tv though

Thanks! So even though I kept getting an error message telling me that the dock failed to update, it actually did update.

Hopefully Valve will post the current firmware version number in the provide updates release notes (such as in the Steam Deck patch notes) so this is easy to check.

Edited for clarity.
