Currently, without game mode I cannot select 1440p@120Hz so I'm stuck to either 4k60 or 1080p120 and the latency is also higher than with game mode.
Valve can you please add support for the Samsung S95B?
I went through several troubleshooting steps with support and was advised to post here as nothing worked. The only workaround currently is to use PC mode + “Input Signal Plus”, which will allow 1440p output at 120Hz, but you will lose access to Game Mode’s settings and input latency advantages.
When game mode is engaged, the Deck loses its white light LED, stops charging, and output to the TV is cut. The only resolution is to disable game mode and unplug/replug the dock from HDMI
Please Valve fix this! Samsung TVs aren't a niche product :-(
Do we think this is an issue to be resolved by Steam or by Samsung?
Solve by the HDCP stop adding DRM in our damn consumer devices.
Everyone who post HDMI issues also has a new TV. I suspect HDCP handshake issues and the handshake pretty much breaks most dock MST display features.
This means that the issue is not with the Steam Deck or the TV - it is with the Dock.
Yea. I was thinking about the Multi-Stream Transport features within the official dock. The official dock is one of the few sub $100 docks with the ability to split usb c signal into two+ displays.
I believe HDCP gives two crap about those use cases. They want their stream uninterrupted. The issue is so bad that Wendell only provides displayport KVM because HDMI DRM is just broken.
Yes, I tried a different dock as well, and that works perfectly fine. I also tried a regular Notebook with Valve's dock and that didn't work either.
People were getting Jsaux docks for this reason, because they also work perfectly fine with Samsung TVs.
It's only Valve's Dock that has these issues
Doesn't for me - still get the same issues with the updated dock and my new OLED deck
But I don't want to do tricks every time I connect to the dock...
I had little hope this would actually be investigated, but today my Dock updated to firmware version 0.13.15.121 and game mode is working perfectly with my Samsung S95B!!!
Thank you Steam 🤩
Does this include the inability for the Steam Deck Dock to register the Steam Deck is turned on and displaying it on the TV (having to do the annoying power cycling with only the HDMI attached and not the charging cable)?
Yea. It sounds like a completely separate bug. You have to either update to preview channel or go to your bios and change usb drd to usb xhci.
USB DRD isn't working so well.
